>>reporter: lori, good morning. a search of the park turned up empty tonight, but this morning police are taking this threat very seriously. police spent the better part of the night searching this west park. just after midnight, a man in his 50s from california said he was on a walking trail near bow bridge which is near west 74th street. him with an 11-year-old boy and asked him if he wanted to have sex with the boy for $300. the tourist quickly said no and went back to his room and called 911. that man is described as having dark hair, about 35 years old, clean shaven, wearing a black jacket with a fur hood and blue jeans. the child who was with him was wearing a red or orange lightweight jacket. again, police did not find any sign of them after a search of the park overnight. however this morning they will be reviewing area surveillance cameras. that is the very latest from central park, diana rocco, channel 7 eyewitness news. >> diane, a thank you. >>> developing right now, 18 people arrested overnight after a

>>reporter: lori, good morning. this all happened as this little girl was walking by the corner bodega here with her brother yesterday morning. but she screamed and put up the fight of her life. that's when the man fled. police are looking for that predator this morning. in fact, his signs are up all over this east new york neighborhood this. is surveillance video of him that police released. he is believed to be in his 20s. you can see him walking down the street moments before the attack. it happened just after 8:00 yesterday morning. the 11-year-old little girl was walking to school with her brother. they were on the corner here at pitcan avenue and elton street at a relatively busy time of approached by that man who exposed himself and then grabbed the little girl, grabbing her arm and not letting go. but that little girl fought back, and that's likely what saved her. parents don't feel their children are safe until this man is caught. >> it's hard to let our kids go to school by themselves. you know what i'm sa

>>reporter: good morning, lori. police say 46-year-old robert costanzo actually admitted pulling off several burglaries here on staten island between 2007 and 2008. this was after he was arrested for a burglary in connecticut where a woman was held at knifepoint before $75,000 worth of jewelry was taken from her safe. now, costanzo is a level 3 sex offender, he was accused of a 1989 rape here on staten island, also a 1996 sexual battery in florida. now, during this ninja burglary spree here on staten island, 19 homes have been hit. a few homeowners had even come face to face with a six foot tall man dressed head to toe in black. he was once stabbed by a victim, but he got away. one homeowner says she was threatened with none shots. the crimes were never officially solved, but after into custody for that 2014 connecticut burglary, together evidence. eventually they say it tied him to the staten island. now, d.a. michael mcmahon will hold a press conference at 1:00 to announce the arrest. costanzo will also be arraign

>>reporter: lori, good morning. in just a short time from now donald trump, is expected to cast his vote later this morning here at city synagogue. this is a big day for the trump campaign as in recent days he's pulled ahead of opponent ted cruz by double digits among republican voters and he needs a big win here in his home republican nomination ahead of the convention. the latest polls showing trump with 53% among republican voters. that's more than double digits over john kasich an ted cruz who both moved on to other states today. trump was in buffalo last night talking about new york values where he's now catching criticism this morning for misspeaking, calling 9/11 7-11. there are 95 delegates up for grabs on the republican side here in the state. trump needs 50% of the vote in all congressional districts to take all 95 delegates and he's confident he can pull it out. >> it is going to interesting to see what happens because i'm saying that we're going to hit the 1,237 i believe. >> reporter: lori, good morning. several families are left you can see what is left of their condo building after a fast-moving fire overnight. the fire department has been called back here to extinguish hot spots even though the fire is now, for the most part, out. fire marshals and fire arson investigators have been called to the scene to see how this started. it happened before midnight last night. medford fire department was called to the blue ridge condo complex, unit 398. units were met with heavy fire that spread to four units and made its way through the roof. flames were dozens of feet high. you can see how hot it got and how high it was. everyone was successfully evacuated by police and the arriving firefighters. multiple fire departments were called in. it took nearly two hours to put out the fire. police and suv if he can fire were called to the scene to several families are trying to pick up the pieces as investigators try to determine how this started. diana rocco, channel 7 eyewitness news. >> thank yo

back over to you, lori, ken? 5:31. >>> right now police are talking to the mother of two youngsters killed in a horrible bronx fire. they believe her daughters were home alone when the smoke and flames broke out. >> reporter: ken it is a heartbreaking morning here, especially for neighbors and this family who played several attempts to try to get to these little girls when started. it appears the mother was across the street at the laundromat and left the girls home alone, unsupervised. investigators tried to determine how the fire started. yesterday at about 6:30 smoke could be seen coming from the third floor of -- of this building of the butler houses. the 2-year-old and 18-month-old could be heard crying and screaming. neighbors were trying to get to them but were overcome by the thick, black smoke. firefighters were able to get to the girls and they were taken to the hospital but late last night they were pronounced dead. relatives, the girls' mother and neighbors could not save them. >> we saw flames burst

>> reporter: ken and lori, left in the intersection after the impact. the man was crossing the street here in front of the boys and girls club when he was hit and the driver never stopped. this happened at about 11:00 last night here at the intersection of 21st street and 30th road. police say the man was crossing when a dark-colored toyota or honda hit him and left the scene. the impact left pieces of the car in the intersection, the man was pronounced dead a short time later at elmhurst hospital. the car is expected to have damage to its front end and windshield. people say it is a dangerous intersection, it is not well- lit and drivers often speed here. >> you have kids coming out of the community center and you have to go here to cross or down there to cross the street. meanwhile, people have been trying to get a traffic light over here, but it hasn't happened. >> reporter: and the victim police have not released his identity this morning, they are still investigating, and are looking if a dark-colored sedan, possibly a toyota or a honda. anyone wit
