[applause] that is why i have directed the department of education to develop a toolkit for teachers and parents on digital literacy and critical thinking. this is important and follows on the good work we did together last year when you passed and i signed into law a bill that requires schools to teach financial literacy. we need to ensure together that our young people are prepared for the world that they are living in. we also need to update antiquated state laws that cost the school districts too much money. let me give you one example. when the charter school law was first adopted back in 1997, the idea of going to a cyber school was new and relatively few parents send their kids there. today, nearly 60,000 pennsylvania students go to cyber charters. however, we've never gone back and reevaluated how we fund the schools. cyber charters

lori daybell convicted of killing her own children after claiming they were zombies.he same judge is presiding over her husband's trial, he is facing the death penalty if convicted. chad daybell appearing in an idaho courtroom. jury selection in his murder trial now under way. the so-called doomsday step dad, who made national headlines accused of killing his wife, two children and murdering his first wife. his wife sentenced to wife in prison without parole. a jury unanimously finding her guilty for the deaths of her two kids, 16-year-old kylie and 7-year-old jj and conspireing to kill daybell's ex. >> the defendant, lori daybell, used money, power and sex, or the promise of those things, to get what she wanted. >> reporter: tylie and jj were last seen september of 2019. prosecutors say vallow and daybell claimed their kids were zombies and killed them. they were found in shallow graves in daybell's idaho back yard in 2020. vallow, who was already in custody, heard talking to daybell on a jail house phone call during the search of his home. >> are they at the house?

yep and as you've reported as well, some of her rivals who are also running for mayor, lori feral peskin, they've all been making a lot of efforts to court that community, if you will. so the pandas obviously will score some points, but also this has benefits for china too, doesn't it? because the fact that china has restarted its panda diplomacy, if you will, sending out these furry ambassadors after kind of bringing them back home for a while. what does this say about where china is? >> yeah. so china has restarted this panda diplomacy program and san francisco has been playing a really major role since the apex summit between this us and china relationship. right. and when mayor breed is in china, she also met with chinese vice president han zheng, which is a rare move by chinese leadership. considered maybe is just a local city level leaders. right? so san francisco has been very prominent in in this us, china, you know, global politics platform. and mayor bri asking for panda and now china sending panda. that's a really strong signal that china wants, you know, a better relationship

remember lori logan saying much too soon to think about rate cuts and michelle bowman, similar vibe hereit's still not time yet for rate cuts. when you look at these voices from the fed really kind of cautioning the market here, how do you read into that? >> yeah. so i think that the data that we've seen around the turn of the year, not only the payroll report today which was obviously a strong, a blowout report but just overall, the data has shown a u.s. economy that's not only resilient but is growing at an extremely strong pace. we look at final demand growth at 3 p.m. -- 3% for three consecutive quarters now and that's something that we've seen outside of the pandemic-related surge since 2024. so when you're getting that kind of growth, then usually what happens is is that you have an economy, especially when employment is low, you have an economy that's running hot. and you have inflation that's staying stickier. and that's the risk here. of course the wrinkle with in all of this is we've had a ton of immigration in the united states. it's difficult to measure on a real-time basis,
