let's take some calls and hear from lorinda in massachusetts. you are on c-span. ahead. >> i would like to say how much i have enjoyed this series. i am sorry to see this is the last show. i want to ask miriam a question. you did not talk about the first 12 years of his life. they had a farm. he was 12 years old when they became migrant workers. could you quickly tell me about the first 12 years of his life? and i will hang up and listen to your answer. >> thank you for calling in. miriam: thank you for the question. he grew up outside yuma, arizona on a farm that was homesteaded by his grandfather. he had a lot of extended family in the area. it was a stable life. not overly wealthy in any sense but very comfortable. then they lost the farm for tax foreclosure reasons. his father fell behind paying taxes. the farm ended up being taken. he was not only a migrant worker, but he had that comfortable childhood taken away from him. that sort of drove him. he talked about that partly he was doing this to get back at how he was treated and how his family was treated in
