we moved from milwaukee to los angeles about 18 months after the dodgers moved from brooklyn to los angeles, and my dad thought that was the greatest thing, so we used to go to chavez ravine when i was a kid and watch sandy cofax pitch. my dad would say we're going to watch a left-hander strike out a lot of guys. when i was shown the back room, so to speak, of the national museum of american history, it brought tears to my eye to see sandy cofax's mitt. i said can i look at it? they said sure. i said can i hold it? they said sure. i said can i put my hand in it? they said no you may not. i said but i'm the secretary, and they said that's fascinating.
