there were some cataclysmic events that happened in los angeles. police had to change the way they dealt with it. went through a whole history of different ways of dealing with gangs. the los angeles police department is credited with the first model of the gang unit. the other remarkable changes, the involvement of federal law enforcement. in the early 1990's people in washington dismissed gang crime they called it street crime. and many agencies said we are not going to get our highly-trained professional agents involved in street crime. that is something that is the only appropriate for basically street cops. well, events in the early 1990's change that. i write about them in some detail. a huge riot in los angeles. happens to be during the president's election year. some people call that the rodney king riots. one of the fallout was that it was seen that gang members were intimately involved in a lot of the violence, a lot of the pillage, a lot of the death and fire. surprisingly enough it is often thought of as an african american riot. really later

that's according to a los angeles police department search warrant.he newly released document shows his personal physician, dr. conrad murray told investigators he gave jackson doses of valium and other medications throughout the night in an intravenous drip because the 50-year-old entertainer could not fall asleep. when he was still awake at 10:30 in the morning he gave him propofol normally used for surgery in hospitals. he said that jackson repeatedly demanded it and feared the pop star was becoming addicted to it. he said after he administered it the fell asleep and he stepped away two minutes and when he returned jackson had stopped breathing. he had been monitoring him with a pulse oximeter that was keeping track of his pulse and oxygen levels they found prescriptions from three doctors on jackson's bedside table. most to be used for insomnia. a law enforcement official tells the associated press the l.a. coroner ruled his death a homicide. dr. murray has been keeping a low profile. putting a message out on youtube thanking his supporters and pu

the lapd, the los angeles police department, said that information didn't come from them. we also checked with the coroner's office and they said no comment. so they're not saying it isn't true, they're just not confirming it. but we want to point out that the coroner's definition of a homicide can mean many different things. it can mean first-degree murder, manslaughter, negligent homicide, it all depends. the affidavit we got today does say that investigators have found evidence of manslaughter, which we know they were looking for at dr. conrad murray's clinic. we also know from the district attorney here in l.a. they have not received the case yet to even consider charges. that's how the process works. the lapd gives them the case to determine what, if any, charges will be filed and that hasn't even happened yet. dr. murray's attorney has read the affidavit. and he released a statement a short time ago calling much of the search warrant affidavit police theory, that's his quote. he said the timeline reported by law enforcement was not obtained through interviews with dr
