i don't believe we should write off the people of los angeles off the people of los angeles of the peoplew before, but while this is a horrific event full of grief and loss, people will amaze and surprise you. you see the very best of humankind in these events, and like he was saying, the person before me, people can withstand losing their homes and neighbourhoods. we have seen this before, not on this level quite, except in paradise, we have seen it. they can rebuild. we rebuilt back in five years and we had entire neighbourhoods levelled. 1500 homes at a time. i stood on the corner of the town i grew up in and didn't recognise it. so, i do know that there are ways to come back, and we will be there for them, and whilst this isn't toxic positivity, this is learned from seven years of doing this full time. people care about each other, and they will rebuild. they will band together, and we will help them do that, using the hard earned knowledge of other fire survivors who have done the same thing. as we all want to get there to help. it same thing. as we all want to get there to help.— ge

pacific palisades is the neighborhood that i was born and raised in. 23,000 people live in this neighborhood. it's a coastal community in the city of losf pacific palisades is on fire as i speak to you tonight. you are looking at over my shoulder is the ridge of will rogers state historic park. it's a big, beautiful park in between where i'm standing right now in what's called the palisades riviera and the palisades village, the center of town where thousands of people congregate on a daily basis. this fire started in an area that's known near the palisades highlands and that's an area where there's maybe 500 or 1000 homes and it's very, very dangerous in a situation like this. one road or two roads in and there's only one or two roads out. there has been gridlock on these streets much of the day here is of how dry it has been, how little rain we have gotten over the course of the last several months. a wind event like this is not one that we see often in southern california. these santa ana winds come in and they blow over the mountains, toward the coast, and it is like a tinderbox out here. and it's not a wildfire out in the wilderne
