college football analyst sweet lou montgomery is here with us to talk all things college football. lou, you have to like what you saw from iowa yesterday. didn't they? >> absolutely. here is a team that came out, they didn't win on a lot of style points by any means. obviously this was a very sluggish looking team but they got after it in very difficult conditions. ultimately they got the job done. a win is a win. >> why do you think the defense has been able to turn around so much in two weeks? was not that long ago. why is this defense playing so much better? >> i think what we are finding from iowa is they are having a resurgence. we saw some things with michigan and michigan was one of those games they came out and took care of business. after that game iowa recommitted themselves to really getting after it and getting after the ball and i think we are seeing a residual of that and that is tough defense. >> on offense obviously got after defense yesterday. >> yeah, yesterday's game was one of the best games i saw. i like the running style of both but daniels is the thunder in th

i'm lucky enough to be joined by sweet lou montgomery, are isle of bute cornhuskers. how did they play their best game of the year and how impressed were you with that performance? >> i was extremely impressed with how iowa has played, particularly the last three games. everly set the pace for themselves. that's going to be the key for them to continue on the track they're going. it really boils down to realistically two things. there running attack and their defense. those are the key components that iowa has put together and found a way to get things done and have turned it around right the ship for them this season. >> when you look at where they were three weeks ago when a lost to penn state in a bad way and how they have turned it around are you surprised by how they were able to right the ship over the past three weeks? >> and not really surprised. this is quality football. what we're seeing is some quality coaching from the entire staff. this team is realistically rededicating themselves to doing what they need to do to win and give these seniors an opportunity

lou montgomery is in with us to break down all the college football action. let's start with the hawkeyes. disappointing loss yesterday. what kind of stood out to you? >> what i saw saturday was a team that did not come out and want to be great. this team really struggled offensively. then offensively they just couldn't get anything going in surprising for iowa. that has been our bread and butter all yearlong. teams have started to figure out if they can stop iowa's running attack and force him to throw, they have a great opportunity to win and penn state executed that to the t on saturday. >> the most surprising stat you touched on was the iowa running game. penn state rushed for over 300 yards. you don't see that from on a away team. how much of a red flag is that? iowa. if you can't run the football then there is no i denty to -- identity to this program. they will have to get more creativity in their offense. you a big game coming up against michigan where iowa will be tested at all levels. they will have to play mistake free football against michigan. mo
