i love my life in louisiana as my family has been in new orleans and -- louisiana and mississippi for generations. but we can do better. when i look out across lake pontchartrain near new orleans or the atchafalaya basin, i know we must do better. our spring and summer nights and afternoons are getting hotter and more humid, which makes it harder to cool off at nighttime. i split my time between baton rouge and new orleans and it is only in recent years that baton region reached air quality attainment per federal standards. we still struggle with an f rating by the american lung association, however, as recently as 2019 due to petrochemical plants that combine with increased temperatures. i experience migraines and asthma attacks on those poora -- poor air quality days. there is no national insurance market to provide as a safety net for any of us in this nation. i like to own a home and have a family soon. and i'm just not sure how responsible this is right now. when it comes to my work as a biomedical researcher, weeks to months can be lost to hurricanes that strengthens overnight a
