louisiana state police will be assisting that. those activists i spoke to say they're frustrated, concerned, angered that something like this would happen here. what they mean by that is another black man shot by a white police officer. here's what we know happened. we know that alton sterling was outside the triple s convenience stores, selling cds just after midnight. that's when an anonymous 911 call came in that sterling had a gun and was pointing it at someone. we have a video from one perspective, being taken down by two police officers, dragged to the ground. while he's on the ground, we hear someone, presumably the police officers, one of the two say "gun." that's when you heard multiple gunshots, according to records, sterling was found with gunshot wounds to his chest and back. police officers did recover a handgun from his body. i talked to the activists who are frustrated by the process and how it's been handled. there are other perspectives that has not been released to the public. earlier as at press conference, the p

. >> reporter: brooke, new information this afternoon from the louisiana state police about the shooter'st of the louisiana state police there leading this investigation, telling cnn this afternoon that the shooter, gavin long, was spending a lot of time riding around this general area in the days leading up to the shooting. along this corridor on airline highway, he was riding around. we know this is the scene of the shooting. and we know he was riding in an area about 11 miles from here. superintendent edmondson has told us that they're interviewing everyone who might have come in contact with the shooter. even if it was just in passing. he says the shooter stayed in several locations over the course of several days while he was in this area. they are starting to try to put together some of those pieces, how many days was he here, who he interacted with and where did he stay. several locations is what we are told. a new video cnn has pulled from the shooter's twitter feed of him in a car riding around with another man narrating this video the entire time, he's talking to the young man w

i spoke to the louisiana state police superintendent, and he said that the gunman, who turned 29 on theay of the shooting, gavin long, was, quote, certainly seeking out police. that's what he told me. according to police, this gunman was dressed all in black, armed with an assault rifle, when he carried out the ambush less than a mile from police headquarters. the officers killed, brad garafola, a 24-year veteran with the sheriff's office. officer montrell jackson.
