louisville's churchill downs, home of the kentucky derby was also hit.entually corrals. officials say no people or horses were injured. >> they say they may have to move some of the horses while they clean up debris. >>> a month since the tornado hit joplin, missouri. the number of people decide in 9 disaster is 56 after a woman injured in the tornado last month passed away. according to the national weather service, the tornadoes that hit joplin was the single most deadly tornado we have seen here in america in 60 years. >> the waters are getting so high in part of minot, north dakota, it's too dangerous for many folks to stay this morning. 12,000 residents ordered to evacuate last night because of swollen river now spill over the levees that protect minot. >>> reynolds wolf is in the extreme weather center for us this morning. lots to talk about. still severe weather out there. >> absolutely. we had our share of it yesterday through parts of the ohio valley. the flooding situation in parts of the northern plains and should be a little bit better today

the storms did their worst at churchill downs in south louisville where there were reports of funnel clouds and some barns were destroyed, sending many horses running loose. in many parts of the city, there were downed power lines. the storms also did considerable damage near my alma mater, the university of louisville, and the jefferson town area. the national weather service plans to be in louisville today to sur fay the damage and to determine if the city was indeed struck by tornadoes. the town is bracing itself for another round of severe weather with severe thunderstorms, high winds and even hail in the forecast for today. luckily, it appears so far that only property was damaged and no lives were lost or people injured. the horses are all okay, too, for that matter, which is extremely important to us in kentucky. we're thinking of those who have been affected by these storms and will continue to keep a close eye on the city of louisville and make sure people have everything they need to clean up and to rebuild. now, mr. president, on another matter, this morning, i'd like to a
