american pacific islander month here in the bay area, and we're highlighting the good work of a local organization. it centers on food art and writing the a p i community publishing a shared love of food , asian american pacific islander month here at ktvu. we want to highlight the grassroots nonprofit called cut fruit collective are andre senior, spoke to one of the founders this morning about their mission of empowering people through art. we actually originally started off back in march of 2020. our name was saver chinatowns. we were relief fundraiser dedicated to saving or uplifting chinatowns during the pandemic and so hard by the way during the hit very hard, and so, um, and then as, uh, as we moved into 2021, we wanted to extend that form of community care through art to other neighborhoods, other asian american pacific island neighborhoods. and so we found this name cut fruit, which is a very common practice across asian and pacific islander household. and you'll see that across the world where people prepare fresh cut fruit, further loved ones and to us that really evoked a sense of community care that we wanted to. um, we wanted to show through our organization . so
