what we'll see is simpson walking into a room at the lovelock correctional facility. he will sit down. there will be others in the room, including one of his daughters, as well as his sister, some friends will be there. he will be making a statement via teleconference. there will be a board of parole group in carson city watching that as well as two others. after a brief statement, he'll answer some questions. he along with the rest of the country will wait as that panel votes on his future and his freedom. normally, this is a two or three-day process. they don't vote right away. but because of the interest, the panel has said we're going to go ahead and vote today and get this done. so if he is granted earliest release date would be october 1st. if it's denied, if it's just flat-out denied, then it would be about a year before he could have another hearing. if there's some kind of tie in the vote, they would bring this all back up again in six months. so everyone will be watching in just a few hours as this gets under way. again, won't take that long. an hour, if tha

we're at the lovelock correctional center, and this is where o.j. simpson has been housed for the better part of nine years since being convicted on that robbery and kidnapping charge back in 2007. at that time simpson along with five accomplices broke into a hotel room, a las vegas hotel room being and confronted a pair of memorabilia dealers. subsequently, he was convicted, and that why he is facing this nine year to 33 year sentence. he did have a plea deal. he took a gamble and lost big time, and that is why he is serving out this sentence. now, this will be done through teleconference today, and it is a widely believed that o.j. simpson will, in fact, get parolled, however, he would not leave prison today if parole he would walk out a free man, closer to sometime after october 1st, thomas? >> as we understanded, this is the minimum, nine year sentence that he was required to serve. this is the first time, correct, that he's going before a parole board? >> having a few problems with joel waldman, from lovelock, nef add a fascinating case. so man

he appeared at the lovelock correctional facility and said he forgave him.court room. when people consider whether or not whether oj simpson should be locked up, they are not really considering whether he was guilty for this crime, they are considering whether he was guilty of the murders. but that could not have any bearing on the decision at all? exactly. they did not mention it, but they made clear that they were applying the rules. they said they thought they we re rules. they said they thought they were at their parole board and they would apply it to oj simpson as much as anyone else. he was asked himself by the commissioners, oj simpson was asked, how will you pay per with the media attention? he laughed and said he has had it since he was a teenager. he was such an enormous celebrity and he said he had numerous offers for the media. he talked about a couple of courses he had completed while he was inside. one on trying to resolve conflict nonviolently and the other was a computer course may leak so he could get in touch with his children, and he said
