this is a snow-lovers dream. i spoke to my wife on the phone. really believes she woke up and in the movie misery. i think a lot of people are feeling like that. as much as you love snow there is a point where it gets ridiculous. we are reaching that point. it will get dangerous because of the icing we have had allowing the snow to stick. it should finally come to an end. the problem is the weight dealing with the wind. the winds will stay with us tonight. as we roll through the extended forecast, some of you are wondering about the weekend, the next storm looks like it hugs the gulf coast and stays south. we should be fine for that thing passing friday and saturday well to the south of the area. we'll hover with temperatures in the low 30s. melting during the day and teens at night which means a hard refreeze and ice in the mornings. sunday night and monday another system comes in this cold arctic pattern. it is possible we deal with snow through the early part of next week. before i toss it over to traffic i want to say december 5th and 19th t

i know snow-haters and some of the snow-lovers are saying enough already. but it was one of those wet snows, the clingy snow. this one will be a bit wet, too. here's what's going on in the atmosphere. 41 degrees. tomorrow we'll be having more melting o to our west. you see the temperatures into the 30s. there are the areas under winter storm watch already around us here in washington. these are winter weather advisories for some snow and ice. there's the storm beginning to get going. we've had that pattern with the jet stream to our south. the next storm will be following a similar pattern because it's been so, so active. the last time we had a storm like this that looked like it would be like this, 1983, we had over 16 inches of snow in washington. and 36 inches in the blue ridge. let me show you the radar. you can see where that area of rain is that continues to spread out through parts of texas on into -- on into parts of north texas. the radar is showing not only an area of rain in texas, b it's raining in wichita falls, raining right now into north tex

even those of us who are snow-lovers are getting sick of this now. is there a global weather pattern at work that would not preclude us seeing more of this before this winter is over? >> no. >> there ain't no such pattern at work? >> the pattern we have right now is one -- i saw sort of a change in the pattern when we were looking about the winter outlook. but there's nothing to preclude that we could see yet another coastal storm before this winter is out. not for the next week, but the pattern is still one where we get this moisture and get this energy in the jet stream. it's very strong. the southern branch near the gulf states, we have the cold air still coming in from canada. it's a cold, snowy pattern overall still. >> and i want to ask youred avites, bob, for all those folks who are wondering when to get out and shovel. some people are seeing breaks in the snowfall, but if the wind is still going to be an issue, what is your recommendation? >> i think after -- it depends if you have 20, 30 inches of snow like in montgomery county and -- you ma
