i was abducted from my village by the lra. and taken. and the way i was abducted was in a way the rebels came around midnight, just in the middle of our sleep, and they broke down our door and got inside where i was sleeping with my cousin and tied us up. and they also went and woke my parents who are sleeping the next door up, and they were seeing us being taken. but knowing that the rebel soldiers would always find us, they could not do anything that would stop the rebels taking us from away from them. and we walked through the whole night because always when they do attack one place they always try to go far away as fast as they can because they know the next morning they might be following them. so we talked through the whole night, and we continue walking like that for the next three days. we were in the different -- like in the next district, which is about 90 miles away from my village. and when we got there, it was surprising that i actually met with my brother, who was abducted a year before me. i was shocked to see him again be

i watch our president say we pushed lra out of our way but what about in the congo, very fresh? where people are also being displaced? is that enough for the president to say we have pushed the lra away and yet there's another group who are still being affected? so i think you putting a lot of force and emphasis on them taking the ownership and collaborating together and bringing their forces together to apprehend joseph kony is the best way that i would request maybe you people to be strong on a diplomatic approach, because when i spoke to the civil society, the women, they think their voice, not being heard, and in that workshop there are even people who are saying, no. the lra is not a big threat, but every day there are people who are sleeping out in the rain and you can tell the fear. there are children in central africa public that have no future and they're not being able to go to school, and how do we give them a second opportunity? because the displacement in central african republic is so huge. how did we get humanitarian intervention into central african republic? so

as you know, the african union selected me deer ra has the special envoy to the lra. also in that context they've also established operations, a task force in southern sudan. but what's going to be important, of course, is bringing the other groups together, the european union in funding and helping assisting, also the african union to help coordinate much more. as you were saying, is it going to bring more troops? i think what they're going to do is bring a better coordination and cooperation among these four countries and then bring other support from outside. also the other issue is that our special forces unit is working closely with the african union. so that involve is one element of helping to support and to sustain and to close in on coney and his team. >> with regard to your question on africa, on the african union, they're certainly playing a very valuable role in helping to coordinate on the humanitarian side with the u.n. organizations, with the host country governments, and also with the donor countries themselves. and also with the e.u., which is a major

the lra is the best case of this. who do they fight for? who do they represent?iving them? what is their ideology? what could you offer them to entice them to come out of the jungle? that's the problem. in addition to this sort of fragmentation and increased violence, these wars go on and on and on because there's nothing you can offer kony. he doesn't want a seat in the government. he is nott standing up for the rights of a repressed people. he is not even motivated by any commercial enterprise like these groups in congo that are seizing minerals. sdmru once wrote a piece, which i was very struck by years ago in foreign policy in which you pointed out that explains the phenomenon of child soldiers because with adults you have to indoctrinate them with ideology, but you don't have an ideology, so you can't get adults to follow you. >> that's exactly right. there's a connection of why we're seeing all these child soldiers and the proliferation of that across africa. these new rebel groups don't stand for anything, so nobody wants to join them, and they're very bru

and from day one when this war started i saw it as it transitioned to what is now called the lra, and i lost my teenage to this war, i couldn't finish it up because i got involved and i would say i got abducted and started fighting along side the rebel group that as my life, as a young girl i got so tortured so much because repeatedly i was raped, and then after today when i still go back to my community i'm still being called a market officer because i was being forced to go and get money and food forcefully for the rebel group. up to today as much as i try to transform my community in a different way, i'm still filled with guilt of what i did more than 20 years ago as a child and as a child soldier. for the past 26 years you know, it has been very hard not only on me, i am just one person but there are thousands and thousands of people who have their own stories to share about what has happened with the lra. when i left my village after being abducted, when i escaped and i rescued my dad, and we walked for 60 miles to look for safety with my father, the lra retaliated in my village,

so this gives some of them are fighting not because they want to stay with the lra, but because they feel like now that he has forcefully brought us here, the government looks at us as being rebels, and when i try to go back home, they well just kill me straightaway. so i had to fight for my dear life, and die in battle. so thereby, he has been able to keep a lot of kids around him, and if there is any way that these kids can be reached and, like, people telling them that, i escaped sometime back, i was with you and now i am still living a positive life. i have changed my life. i'm involved in doing this. if these people get to know that when you come back home, nothing actually happens to you it will encourage them to come back home. and then the second thing that i want to bring forward is that he has been able to keep some of the kid because this war has been going on for so long. so there are kids born and raised in the bush, and they have both parents in the bush, there by making it very hard for them to feel like they can even come back home. they feel like, they are 18 and the
