well, that search warrant carried out yesterday in the town of lubbock, texas, which is about 140 milesed out last saturday and ended in the deaths of seven people and the shooter wounding 25 others. this is signifcant because this means that investigators have been able to trace back the assault style rifle that was sold in this private sale to the gunman seth ator 36 years old here in the odessa area. essentially what investigators are trying to do is determine whether or not this seller was operating as an unlicensed firearm. that's one of the things that investigators typically do in these cases trying to determine whether or not the seller was profiting from the buying and selling repeatedly of firearms and working as an unlicensed firearm dealer. of course in a private sale as you mentioned, alisyn, a background check is not required. but it's also clear that the gunman in this case was essentially kind of working around the system. because back in 2014 we have learned according to three law enforcement sources that seth ator failed a background check. and in that background check

shea's region spans from amarillo to lubbock to big spring to midland, odessa. on the last tour she planned, an ag tour, we started in lubbock with stops in mule shoe, fredonia and amarillo. if you know texas, that's one heck of a big loop. on one of the stops, i asked shea what we would be seeing that day, and she answered strippers. i was fairly puzzled at that response, and she quickly clarified cotton strippers. i was relieved. there are too many stories of shea helping people in west texas, but one of my favorite stories is about how shea helped bring the b-1 bomber to texas. when the city of abilene and the air force base were working to secure low-level training routes for the b-1 bomber, shea received some questions and some concerns from local ranchers who were afraid the noise would upset their cattle. always the steady hand, shea responded with some west texas wisdom. she'd tell them that the low-level training routes were good for our national security, that they would enhance the air force base as the premier b-1 base in the country. and finally she
