he had plans to do this in lubbock, texas.urchased a plot of land a little west of the center here, and he hired an architect to draw up plans for a home that was largely to be his parents home but there was also room for him and his wife. the house was devoted to a music studio -- one wing of the house was devoted to a music studio. he had contacts throughout the industry. after he married in 1958 he and his new wife stayed in new york city, largely so he could learn everything that he could about the music industry, about recording, about studio production. he wanted to bring that knowledge factor to lubbock, texas and open a studio and bring those musicians here to lubbock. those that he toured with and developed friendships with and recorded -- and record them in his own studio. i do not think that buddy would have stopped recording his own music or would have stopped performing, but i know that that was an exciting element that he wanted to explore and add to his expertise. life, the end of buddy's this would be late 1958

it was a texas governor who hails from lubbock. e is an elementary school named after him, but he was a big heart of our history in west texas. you can see to our right, these are cotton fields. you are in the largest contiguous cotton patch in the world. so we are on a plateau 3200 feet above sea level. warm days in the summer, but cool nights. cotton loves our climate. cotton is being planted as we speak, and we have harvested it around halloween, and the wind powered museum is to our right. we would not be here without windmills, because we do not have any surface water. if you think about this flat plateau we live on, we had to bring water from the aquifer, underneath the ground. cotton what we era gate with. that is what we irrigate corn with or soybeans, or carrots or whatever it is that we grow. here withoutot be wind power. >> how many windmills are utilized here to help around lubbock? >> about 15% of our power is wind generated. that will continue to go up. texas is a little bit below that as a state. there is a lot of win

we have people coming from all over west texas and receive treatment. in -- lubbock. ulture of west texas is pretty diverse. it's dominated by local colleges and dominated like wise in large cities by big churches conservative traditions pretty much. the society is -- is conservative. we have a lot of nra members in this area. as natural rifle association members in this area as might be expected. we, you go out in the country drive out in the country you'll see a lot of pickups with rifles -- in the back by the window. a lot but -- i drive a pickup not in my truck. we have laws until recently which wouldn't allow for -- liquor to be purchased within many of the cities yeah that -- that suggest how conservative society and really the culture is arranged around here. whatever liberalism is associated with the universities colleges of west texas. there are a lot of reasons why one should know their own history. you know, you get a sense of your own place you get a sense of your own time and your own background your on roots by knowing your history. and not only is there

one of the suspects was captured today, nearly 1300 miles away in lubbock, texas. jericka duncan is following the latest. >> reporter: within the last few hours, authorities arrested david ramos contreras who had been on the run since last week. contreras is one of three ecspects who detectives say sexually assaulted two sisters ages 13 and 14. bowling green police lieutenant dan mancuso. >> based on the crime that they are accused of we would consider them violent offenders so they anuld be dangerous. >> reporter: investigators believe the men are in the u.s. illegally. u.s. marshals and ice agents have joined local police in the manhunt. the suspects allegedly kidnapped thd raped the girls last thursday. according to police, it happened here at this day's inn where the teens and their parents were staying at the same time as the men. police haven't been able to confirm the identities of the two men who are still on the run. >> they had fraudulent immigration paperwork, or identifications. >> reporter: police say the suspect arrested today was deported from the u.
