lucy iain. >> thank you very much, chris. of course, those fire break roads are a wonderful thing until the wind whips up. chief meteorologist scott williams has been telling us about these dangers for now. scott, i guess it's not uncommon this time of year. >> it certainly isn't. we saw a rainfall for the month of april. we haven't seen measurable rain the past two weeks. look at ultimate doppler it is bone dry across much the area. i'll zoom into that actual fire site and this green area that you see that's not precipitation or rain. that's ultimate doppler detecting those smoke particles in the atmosphere. winds still kind of light out of the east southeast. but once again that fire is still on going. temperatures have been running above average as well. so that's not really helping the situation. we're looking at numbers right now 79 degrees. so it's been warm above average across our area. temperatures a little cooler down the shore. but most of us are looking at numbers in the upper 70s this evening. also heating up the

lucy. no arrests yet at this hour but investigators say these fires all of which were ignited in the pre-dawn areas in a roughly rectangular area of about six square miles near route 70 in pemberton township were no accident. state fire service crews spent much of their day setting back fires to control five separate brush fires that by midday had scorched more than 80 acres in the brendan byrne state forest. the fires were first reported reported before 4:00 a.m. >> any time that you have separate unrelateed fires it becomes that automatically suspicious. you know you don't have nut multiple fires occur on their own. >> reporter: something happened that touched them off? >> yes. >> reporter: wind gusts of 25 miles an hour and 17% humidity made for just the kind of conditions. windy and dry that spread these fires. at this this scene the blacks bridge fire torched 45 acres about a third of that from so-called spot fires. >> you can feel the wind picking up and as fire builds into the tree t

. >> i'm lucy noland. >> the death toll rose today. they found another body in wreckage this morning bringing the total to eight killed. dozens of people are still in hospitals across the city. and the ntsb now says the train actually sped up moments before hitting the curve in port richmond sending the entire train careening off the tracks. chris o'connell is live at the crash site. chris, what have you learned? >> reporter: well, we're getting to get a clear picture of what happened. those seconds before the doomed train ran off the tracks. we've learned tonight that train was going 70 miles an hour. a minute later accelerateed to 100 miles an hour moments before derailment. >> mere seconds into the turn we could see the train tilting approximately 10 degrees to the right. >> reporter: federal investigators revealing details derailment of amtrak 188. clear images from a front facing video camera confirmed a rapid acceleration before the crash but if anyone knows what happened before the derailment, it's the drain's engineer. >> reall
