well, this donation will actually allow us to do a few more things for the cancer patients up at lucille packard's hospital. we'll be able to send them on a few more trips. in the past we've sent them to fleet week, a girl's day trip for a beauty salon. it well help buy some chairs for the young cancer patients as they undergo their treatments. >> reporter: and why is buster so much involved in this particular charity? well, when posey first moved here, he lived with the friends and family, and that's the way it works when these young giants get into professional baseball. they don't make a whole lot of money then and they end up living with families. he lived with the franzen family. >> and it's not just a financial thing, it's more of a support thing. buster posey and his wife moved here from georgia. they had never been to a shopping mall until he arrived in the bay area. so he started out with the san francisco giants and lived in the guest cottage of kevin franz franzen's house. >> reporter: what a story. even though he's from georgia, we consider buster homegrown. >> he's ours now.
