month of separation and it's my pleasure to join us here and many of us know that we are such a lucky cityd we are lucky because people around their world make their way to fraction, find hopey until the city they know that we celebrate our diversity and find strength in the different cultures that pretend together and now, i ask you also to bring me talent from the arab america communities to make me and help me lune run the city. yes, it's incredible. union, i think i can talk about how wonderful diversity is, but we have to get the talent from our communities to represent all of the different thing that we do in the city. and you know, tonight, even though there is something called a baseball game out there, but these wonderful events that we have in the city whether it's america's cup whether it's fleet week, whether it's the 49ers playing or the giants playing, even eventually when we land the superbowl it all board of trustees all of us, i know that what i'm doing as a mayor and making sure that i support smallbitions in the city is helpful to the america arab community because all o

city. one of the parents called our office distressed about the school system. i was lucky able to walk to and from school with my friends. i'm so proud to be a product of the public education and the san francisco unified school drink district. as you can see i have a hard time separating my personal life from my professional life. i look forward to continue to work and make sure that our residents have parks and playground to enjoy. making sure that our representative are well represented when it comes to budget discussions and making sure that we have a thriving local economy. people choose to live in the outer sunset for a certain quality of life and i hope that i can contribute my part to ensure that people if you're a college student, i want to make people love to live in san francisco. i would like to thank someone who has been a huge part of my life. carmen chu. to me carmen has really set a great example of what a supervisor should be. someone who should maintain integrity and someone who represents issues in a great manner and even if someone you are in disagreeme

i want to recognize things that happen in this city we are a very incredible lucky city for all the things that happen to us. this is one of the moments that recognize all of these special elements that come together modernization, this brand new station, and the firemen and women who will be here and take care of this city as you always have. thank you for making this happen. appreciate it. [ applause ] >> the mayor said it but i think we have a ribbon cutting almost twice a day now in district 6. this is an exciting one. the first constructed fire station in san francisco since 1950. it's pretty amazing considering when the fact that the mayor brought up is the busiest station in san francisco. in my time at the distribution, unfortunately i got to know a lot about the fire department. we have had 13 working fires, several which were very significant and displaced or injured our residents. i learned how hard the fire departmen

continue to be at the forefront of health care delivery, not only here in our city, but across the country. we're extremely lucky in the city. we are the envy of other cities and states in our country. we add two new hospitals. we're product to be here today. i want to introduce one of my colleagues that played such an integral role in the process where one of the brand-new hospitals are going to be built square in his district. he was the biggest advocate for t. he needs to be congratulated for all of his work, supervisor david campos. (applause) >> thank you. thank you, santa ferv. thank you, mr. mayor, to you and your amazing staff, and ken rich who has done an incredible job navigating this complicated process. i don't want it repeat some of the things that have been said, but i do need to thank the people who have made this possible, beginning with the coalition that has included a very broad and diverse group of folks from the community, from labor. they have truly been the backbone of this effort. ~ supervisor farrell and they are the ones that deserve the largest credit for this history. i also want to t

we're lucky as a city we've got people he heading the departments you have the staff and the public and different commentary partners. in is an event in many relevance is about what san francisco is about as a city. we're the city of st. francis and the tradition of st. francis we take care of our own. there's a lot of great prosperity but there are people who are struggling. we as a city are only as strung as the person who has the least. and by that measure this is an important event. and you the people what take time to be here and help other people. and not only the other services but connect with them on a human level. those phone calls are not used to be treated with respect and the fact you're doing that can be life changing p i'm proud to be part of this event. i want to thank you you're making san francisco the city of hope for so many people. so thank you >> thank you supervisor campos. you know, i've been taught your blessed whether argue blessing. today, we're blessed when we see people giving up their day so thank you to you guys. let's give ourselves a round of applause fo

(applause) >> you know, today i have a number of thank yous i want to go through. but first i really want to comment about our parks and our support for our parks not only in city hall, but with the voters of san francisco. you know, we fight that battle every year in city hall with our budget and we're going through it right now to make sure we prioritize our parks for our families, for our children, for our seniors, for everyone. and the voters of san francisco have done it year in and year out. and parks are for everyone. they're for young people and old people. they're for large people and small people. they're for dogs, they're for everyone that we care about here in san francisco. i see a number of seniors here today. i know one month old emma is here today. this is for everybody and my three children are playing somewhere. we lost them twice already today in the playground. but we are so lucky to have a g

city. and we're certainly glad to be a partner. it is a great day for parks, but it's a great day for san francisco. we are lucky to be san franciscans to have great leadership. and as someone who has worked within city government and has seen how the sausage is made, per se, we're lucky to have a supervisor like mark farrell who has vision, who has dedication, a mayor who is very open to private-public partnership and innovation, department heads and leaders like phil ginsberg at rec and park and companies like google who care deeply about communities not just here locally in san francisco, but across the globe. we're proud to be a partner. proud to be here today and look forward to working on this, you know, in the years to come. so, with that i'll hand it back to our supervisor mark farrell.
