congresswoman lucy mcbath joins me now. congresswoman, thank you so much. i appreciate you joining.a lot of the emotions back. sadly you know this pain better than anyone. you just marked nine years since you lost your son. what are the families of michigan feeling tonight, congresswoman? >> don, i know i am just absolutely devastated, as you can tell by my remarks on the floor, on the house today. and time and time again, we go through this. children are trembling in terror in the corners of their classrooms and parents are scared, you know, that they're going to send their children to school and their children are never going to come home. and it's on days like yesterday that we hear the stories of teenagers that are texting their parents from behind the desks, saying things like mom, if i don't come home, i love you, and thank you for everything that you've done for me. parents begging their children to barricade themselves behind the school doors to hide in classrooms. to please just to be quiet. don't say a word. don't cry out loud. don't make a sound. and now we have more moth

you're now facing a congresswoman from lucy mcbath.cting and the lines have been rewritten. you two both flip districts. 60% of the voters in your new district will be your current voters so you have a majority of constituents in this new district. jim clyburn hosted a fund-raiser and is splitting the caucus a little bit. does it worry you right now how this kind of plays out and where national democrats end up siding in the next couple of months? >> you know, this is one of these things where you can't get bogged down in the punditry and talking about it. i've focused ever since i've run for office ever since i've been elected on what people in the seventh district need and we need things like infrastructure, congestion relief. we need health care and we need child care and so my goal going forward is just to focus on those issues and talk to them about how we're connecting the things that the democrats have delivered on with what is going to affect them in their daily lives so i'm just focusing on that right now. >> and there will be

seats, you're from georgia, i mean, we're going to lose one congressional seat that could cause lucy mcbath to have to go up against a democrat. >> for me, listen, i spent a little time overseas and when i look back at america and see what's happening, there's a very strong anti-democratic movement in this country and to her point, it's not just about the gerrymandering and the what's happening in the politics of the world. think about the supreme court for a moment. you've got three justices on the supreme court making decisions about half of the population in this country, the women in this country, three of them elected by a president who did not have a popular mandate to make those appointments and when you combine the number of constituents by the republicans who voted to confirm these three supreme court justices, they don't even represent the majority of the country. so, we literally now have minority rule in this country. where the minority of the population, whether it's through president trump, whether it's through the senators who represent republican states, appointing these jus
