and you know, it's, you know, it's a rollicking spy thriller in the robert ludlum-- come to robert ludlum of the author ian fleming sort of dimension of the plot. but nonetheless, you know, you have an articulate analysis by the end of the 1960's about the machinations of the new world and independence, black independence and determination at home. so williams was quite a provocative writer, but the generation's conspiracy theory sort of gives us things to think about and keep current on. >> well, paule was not aware specifically of being followed and being under surveillance by the fbi until 1965 and that's when hughes invited her to go on a state department tour to europe, i think it was to the u.k. and france and -- a scandanavian country. it might have been sweden. but in any case, she accepted. she was all excited about going and then she got a letter from the state department asking mer to come in for a quote, briefing. and she writes about this at the beginning of triangular road. well, that's not exactly, but i'll talk about this image. this is paule getting on an airplane in rio.
