>> i did. >> luke russert, you broke the story on the hill today. the reaction in committee and beyond the committee? >> well, democrats, lawrence, understandably are very happy with this interpretation of the law. it's not been a good day for democrats or nbc news. wall street journal polls show president obama at 41%. the david jolly special election in florida. this is an issue they've been paying a lot of close attention to because they felt chairman issa overstepped his boundaries in the investigation of lois lerner. they reiterated a point to me that lois lerner was ready to testify if given one more week to prepare a written statement and testimony. darrell issa didn't want to do that because a lot of folks on the democratic side, and even some aides privately, would like issa would like to have this contempt vote play out in congress. that's not going to happen this week. next week they're in recess. it could possibly happen in committee two weeks from now and then go to the house floor. john boehner put the brakes on darrell issa and his co

congressional correspondent luke russert is joining us with that. you so much for joining us. >> good to be here. >> thank you. house speaker john boehner did say this agreement is not workable in its current form. what's your sense out there in washington? >> it faces a very, very steep uphill climb in the house of representatives. there's little doubt that because it was able to achieve cloture and there were five republicans working on this unemployment insurance deal that it will move forward in the senate next week. after that what happens in the house is anyone's gs. john boehner has called it unworkable and pointed to a study by state workforce agencies that says the changes made by the senate bill would not be able to be implemented because states haaging computer systems. it's an entirely separate issue and something you can do a whole show on. what's interesting about that, the argument comes up, if they can't implement the new changes that republicans want in the senate bill, why not go to the old system which is routinely voted on in a b
