i just want to add a little coda about one of the opponents of the martin luther king holiday. i mentioned john ashbrook of ohio, who died in 1982. ronald reagan signed the king holiday into law in october 1983. as a gesture of support to the moderate wing of his party led by bob dole and howard baker. both of whom had been very active in efforts to win the older middle and upper middle class black voters back to the republican party in the 1970's and 1980's. ronald reagan made a less well-known gesture to the anti-holiday forces five months before he signed the king holiday into act. after john ashbrook died, his supporters founded the ashbrook center at ashland university in ohio, which maintains an active program of internships lectures, and classes. president reagan, oh according to the center website, personally dedicated the center on may 9, 1983. i found no mention of the dedication in the national press. speaker at the annual fund-raising dinner have included dick cheney, margaret thatcher, charlton heston, henry kissinger, clarence thomas benjamin netanyahu, karl rove,

today the first family honored the legacy of martin luther king, jr., by visiting the boys and girls club in washington. the president, the first lady and daughter malia helped children with a reading project. there were marches around the country in memory of dr. king. tens of thousands turned out in los angeles. in many cities, including st. paul minnesota marchers protested police tactics that they claim unfairly target african americans. tonight there's an international manhunt for suspects wanted for plotting to kill police in belgium. the police say with a series of raids last week, they prevented the attacks, which they say were imminent. investigators have their eye on one man in particular and charlie d'agata tells us about him. >> reporter: belgian media have identified him as abdelhamid abaaoud a belgian citizen of moroccan dissent and a suspected ringleader of the terror plot to kill police. he's well-known to security forces and last year he appeared in this amateur video purportedly from syria. last month social media sites said abaaoud had been killed fighting with isis

martin luther king jr. day is tomorrow. oprah and the stars of "selma" marched in the alabama town today. the film's director and star joined the talk show host in the day-long event. the film tells the story of the three month period that king led a movement for voting rights. the group marched to edmund pettus' bridge. where civil rights protesters were beaten and gassed by state troopers. paramount, the film's production company, is holding two free screenings in selma tomorrow. the 18-year-old that led his 13-year-old girlfriend on a crime spree says. he just wants to come home. the kentucky teens were arrested late last night in florida after being on the run for nearly two weeks. dalton hayes and cheyenne phillips are suspected of stealing three cars. two of those cars had guns inside. officials are now working to get the teens extradited back to kentucky. to face multiple felony charges. hayes also faces charges of custodial interference for taking phillips from her home. a record number of people turned out to celeb
