the lydia fire is no longer active, and the hearst fire is no longer in unified command. the threats are minimal on those two fires. now regarding the eaton's fire, it's holding at about 14,000 acres. containment has grown yesterday at 27% to 33% today. and there's no new growth, which is the good news. however, firefighters are reinforced that perimeter, and we'll have to hold that under these challenging conditions through wednesday. we're looking at nearly 40,000 structures remain threatened and a number of structures have been destroyed. we are in the process of doing damage assessments to see what we see from the air. there are 8 confirmed civilian fatalities as a result of this fire, and as of yesterday there were 50 crews, 375 engines, 16 helicopters, and over 3400 personnel that was assigned to this fire. the hearst fire is 95% contained, spread is minimal, and it has calmed down, and the repopulation started yesterday. we still have about 100 firefighters out there doing what we call mop up duties. that's where they see smoke to put the fire completely out, so we

just north of the the hearst fire is the lydia fire. that's 40% contained. crews worked quickly yesterday to stop the forward progress of that fire. so far burned 340 acres and some roads, though, still remain closed as those fires continue to burn the price to rebuild. well, that continues to go up. the palisades fire that's burning, as we have mentioned, some of the most expensive real estate in the country where the median home value is over 2 million dollars. the estimated total damage could be somewhere between 52 billion dollars and 57 billion dollars. the number is expected to keep climbing as these fires just continue to rage. it would have more into perspective. the you know, the camp fire in 2018 here in northern california. that was 16.5 billion dollars in damage. >> back live, we go to the calabasas area where this fire has grown to about 800 acres. it started around 2.30. this afternoon. they did great work to prevent it so far from burning homes, making lots of air drops with tanker planes and helicopters. but it is still a threat. as you can s

were looking at the eaton, hearst, and lydia. that is the northernmost part of that area where the farmers are taking place. the palisades fire, which calfire is in control of, and the we have a new start that just started last night and it also has the potential to expand quite significantly, just based on the location it is that and also the winds are expected to continue. right now when i look at the mutual aid system in california, i want you to know that it is second to none in terms of how it's systems work and how it really moves to activate the firefighting community and how it is activated and engaged. every year we prepare for the santa ana wind's. it just said what is happening now is happening sooner. it is happening at a time now where we normally are at our lowest point in the fire year. the fact that these fires are taking place now says that there are things going on in our climate that is creating truly year-round fire situations and it's something we all have to be mindful of. this is a good indication of that.
