good morning, lori. >> reporter: good morning lynda and gus. we know that a man and woman were shot and killed inside their home on clinton place. investigators do not believe it's a robbery. but they released very little information about the shooting. we know it happened at about 9:30 last night. investigators were out here for most of the night gathering evidence. initial reports were that there may have been children in the house at the time. but authorities have not confirmed that. it's also not clear if more than one person is responsible. last night, newark's public safety director released this statement saying we're investigating two senseless result of the availability of too many guns. this i is not the only shooting in essex county last night. at about the same time, a man shot at police officers who pulled him over in his car in east orange. the officers fired back injuring that gunman. he's now recovering at the hospital. the officers were not injured. gus and lynda, back here in newark, police along with the essex county major cr
