i'm wrig starting here in the first alert weather center with lyndsay tapases. a lot to talk about. >> we've gotten a couple of reports from fat snowflakes in gastonia where the temperature is 45 . and kristen hampton tweeted the video. that will change-over to rain quickly here and the radar is just still picking up on green. band there with the brighter colors, sometimes the radar has trouble differentiating where there is rain and wet snow. and that would be in this area here. we have the snow showers in the mountains where you would expect to have the snow at this time. again in the boone area and linville we did get a report from our fred english up in linville and the snow just started. the system has a lot of dry arrow overcome. it looks like there is a lot on the radar where the returns are lighter it may not be reaching the ground yet because the dry air has to be overcome. we will zoom in on the area here, over gastonia where we have had reports of the wet snowflakes where you see the brighter colors showing up. this is bright banding where the radar t

lyndsay's donated uterus had to be removed. doctors at the cleveland clinic were not able to go on camera about the procedure, but the clinic did release this statement. meteorologist lyndsay tapases is in the first alert weather center with more. >> yeah, we had places from gastonia all the way up to the lake that saw a brief burst of and it's probably switched to rain or dried up as the first batch of moisture moving quickly through the viewing area. temperatures outside of the mountains are in the mid-40s. a little bit rare to have snow at this temperature. but we are not expecting any accumulation outside of the mountains. and in the mountains it's looking like less as far as accumulations go compared to what it was looking like at this time yesterday. so there is the overview. will take the clouds off so you can see the precipitation and in the mountains a break from the snow showers for the time being. everything has pressed east at this point. from gastonia up towards the lake and into salisbury where you did have a brief burst of wet snowflakes for you it's all moving east now. and again, that was the anomaly the areas that did see wet snow everything else light rain and the bulk of this moisture now for the most part is along and east of the

lyndsay tapases is live. it was warm today. we are also seeing a chance for the rain this weekend? >> as we head into the weekend yes it was warm but as the temperatures come down the rain chances come up. departments for the weekend. 81 was the high that we hit this afternoon that was 2 shy of the record of 83. average high for the date is 62. we were below that. and where we are right now we have temperatures still sitting in the upper 70s. for the time of year, if you looked at the temperatures you would think we were in the later part of may but we are early march. 77 is the temperature in charlotte. 78 in rock hill 79 monroe, and 77 in lancaster and 40 in the mid-70s. and 60s in boone right now. and your hour-by-hour forecast, 73 at 7:00 p.m. and 70 at 9:00 p.m. and 68 by midnight. we are keeping things mild throughout the nighttime hours. we will have cloud cover and the humidity is coming up. that is going to keep the temperatures from falling much below the 60 mark. clouds now. radar dry for the time being. but we will see that also change into the weekend.

lyndsay tapases keeping busy in the first alert weatherenter. >> the temperatures in the mid-40s and unusual to see the snow at a temperature this warm. this is what the radar looks like right now. so it started over parts of gaston county and extended northeast of there for where we it started gaston county area, gastonia, bessemer city, iron station and then moved just north of charlotte north along 77 we had places like mooresville and salisbury and davidson. and where you see the darker color on the radar. sometimes the radar has trouble differentiating what is rain and what is wet snowflakes. that is a possibility. in the mountains where we did have light snow seeing a break between waves of moisture right now. this is the broader view of the storm system. you can see a little bit of circulation where the actual low is towards the west and this is a quick-moving system that is not terribly strong so there is not a whole lot of moisture so it will be moving through quickly and the snow totals for the mountains backed off and come down from yesterday at this time. i took the cloud
