let's start with lynn cheney throwing her hat in the ring for u.s. senate.f people don't have warm and fuzzy feelings about the bush/cheney years in the white house. do you think her last name helps or hurt her here? >> she probably wouldn't be running if she wasn't the daughter of. in addition to that, she really reflects the problem that the republicans might have this year, where everybody is trying to outextreme the other. mike enzi, a senator, the one who's incumbent and feels betrayed that cheney is running, is considered very conservative by standards. it will be interesting to see if that works there and other places where there's going to be primaries in the gop. >>> switching gears to the voter rights act. do you think that the partisan divides in congress are too deep to reach agreement on this issue quickly and efficiently? >> yes, i do. as a matter of fact, there's a real divide. in a general sense, the democrats would like to reinstate some version of it and the republicans would not. part of the strategy seems to be to try to discourage minori

i have great respect for the entire cheney family, for the vice president, for lynn as well as for lizk it's the wrong race at the wrong time. jenna: on "special report" last night, there was a debate about this on the panel, and some suggested that this type of infighting for the republican party in the state of wyoming that we're already seeing is indicative of a larger problem with the republican party overall that the gop must confront. your thoughts? >> well, i think a lot of people want to run for office because they're very concerned about the direction of the country and where the president is trying to take the country, especially with his executive orders that affect energy production, affect jobs, hurt our economy. so there is a lot of enthusiasm nationwide with republican candidates who want to come forward because of what they see as the president doing and its impact on our country. jenna: senator barrasso, we always cover a lot of ground. jon's knee issues, we'll get to at a different time.
