and also at that time, the m.t.a. board authorized the director of transportation to set the rules for medallion pickups at s.f.o., and that's the main topic here today. something also staff brought to the m.t.a. board in october was the nonrenewal of corporate and pre-k medallions. and that was not approved last year, and staff does not have plans to bring that back before the board. okay. so the s.f.o. rules. our starting point on the s.f.o. rules is that we would eliminate or prohibit all other medallion types except purchased medallions from picking up at s.f.o. that's our starting point. that's what we had vetted, and we heard a lot from the industry, that's not fair, and different stakeholders, different medallion holders made their case, so what we did was established the current rules. so we're trying to be clear with what we're trying to accomplish and yet be responsive to the industry. now, purchased medallion holders would still be prioritized for pickups at s.f.o., and the post-k medallions would still have acce

i live in district 9, near chinatown, and we just came from the m.t.a. board meeting, and what i show you is the overflow room. you see that's early in the day, so there are a lot of red t-shirts, but they are gone just after maybe 30 minutes or one hour. you know why? let me tell you. so the board of directors told me, you know, they will never just bring a determined mind to hear an issue, they always have an open mind because that's what our representatives are supposed to do. so let's step back and to think about it. who would be hurt if we don't name the subway station after rose pak? nobody, really, seriously, right? but who would be hurt if it's named after rose pak? many people, as you have heard all afternoon. so it's a very simple equation to solve, actually, right? but why it's become such a big issue, such a big deal? why some supervisors so determined, you know, really? we don't have the real answer, but what we think is it is because some people is trying to benefit politically with a known agenda. so if the supervisor or official thinks by namin

i would like to respond to supervisor peskin's aid comments at the m.t.a. board meeting two weeks ago about the majority of the opposition not coming from actual san francisco residents but from falon gung practitioners. such statements are misleading. over 8,000 san francisco residents signed their names to the petition against the rose pak naming proposal. many of them from district 3. we have sent you the online version of the petition. opposition also comes from the chinatown merchant association and a chinese consolidated benevolent association who represent 09% of the chinatown family association. among many other communities groups. in the meantime, not a single resident the chinatown or san francisco came forward to supervisor meetings to support the naming in four weeks. if there is so much support for the naming, there should be people who are willing to take some time off their schedules and come to the city hall to speak. as we are doing now. so, this supervisor peskin speak out the truth or does he even know the truth? falon gung practitioners are pa

and then there is the accountability to do as the m.t.a. board. we are suggesting that we be required to come back after 24 months, rather before 24 months with some findings around whether or not the build project is achieving the safety goals that we set out to achieve, and we use that to inform the decision you will have to make about the ultimate major construction activity and design of the street. so there are some quick build projects, and these are in our vision zero strategy. these are streets where you have already taken action to define what the ultimate design of the street will be. these will look familiar, many of the robust conversations we have had here over the last nine months are on this list. we are saying, let's not wait a year or two for us to bid and award a contract for these things, we want to get there this spring and summer and get these things quick built. we don't want to stop there, we also want to continue to add projects on the hi injury network, on streets where we are already engaged with communities in design pro
