shared spaces is supposed to come to the m.t.a. board in may.y not be the 4th, but i should you anticipate it coming forward to you in the month of may. on the restoration of transit service, transit director july kirchbaum did a significant update on restoring service. [please stand by] [please stand by] we're working on our 20-year capital plan so it's beyond our state of good repair for those enhancements and expansions to the transportation system in san francisco and we are working on fair policy ak and he is affordability and you should expect an update around august on this particular issue. we'll do the same with parking policy and managements. i know that director hemminger is asking questions about m.t.a.'s role as the parking authority. we are working on that and various on development of our parking infrastructure and we will be ready for an update in august and then, the board, in total, access to look at our funding needs and those opportunities and to match those real needs to possible revenue measures. we are getting a lot of dat

board member. i am support of this item. i'll start -- m.t.a.back in 2007 did a test with about two types of buses, and the pilot was (indiscernible) that they didn't maintain the same fuel types and didn't have the (indiscernible) and they did not have enough buses to make (indiscernible) the best system. it's no coincidence that the buses that were procured were found in the shortest time since the fleet in about (indiscernible) and with this next generation of electrical buses going far -- hopefully far into the future -- it is critically important that we get this right and that we diversify the options that we are testing and to get the best propulsion system and we get the best (indiscernible) and given (indiscernible) so i think that it is important to invest into hiring (indiscernible) so we do make sure that we get the bus that is most reliable and timely and the most reliable and the overall best bus for the future which hopefully will give a lot of support. >> 30 seconds. >> caller: so i ask that you approve this item and be sure that

i have to say, i do miss when the mayor and i were on the board of supervisors together and we were probably a little irritating to m.t.a. at times because we were pushing and pushing but in the end, we were all able to work together to make muni run better and so thank you madam mayor for your leadership and thank you to jeff tumlin, who i was so excited when he agreed to come in at the m.t.a. it's an exceptional leader and visionary and jeff and i actual low road muni from castro and market today. it felt like the old days when we would get on muni and take the f-market down market street and now that's going to be the new days because the f is coming back and that is so exciting. so, i have pretty long relationship with muni. i've been a regular daily muni rider since 1997. obviously in sacramento i'm not riding it. it was how i commuted and i didn't drive my car, i took muni. thank you again to the muni drivers who have gotten me around for 23, almost 24 years here and who have stood with us during this terrible pandemic. and so, this matters to me personally but it also matters to my community. so many people in th

this is why as an example the m.t.a. board as part of the last budget we coup not implement proposed making muni free-for-all youth. when we looked at the cost benefit of enforcement and everything that went with it, it made sense to make muni free-for-all youth. we propose to do that permanently as part of that program. i acknowledge barriers and not everybody participates. with that said when it is reduced or free, some are choosing not to use the system again for those reasons. cleanliness, reliability, can i get where i mead? is it quality of service keeping people from taking advantage of that reduced or free program? is it the income barrier itself? as director tumlin noted we are open and we proposed as part of the last budget to remove a lot of income barriers. again, is it the quality of the service, amount of service that is the reason people aren't participating in the programs now? as soon as i get the technical answer to the question we will share the information. >> we know the factors that influence muni travel
