m.t.a. on other items. we're going to let you guys talk about it. >> thanks for the question. i definitely remember the conversations we had when the boardsupervisors approved the renewal -- the extension rather of the contract. and you did say this was a priority. so, the way tows after hours work are auto return has a network of tow truck drivers who are available on call to come do everything from tow a car blocking a driveway or fire hydrant, to address more of a police enforcement-related tow like this. i urge commander wait time of 45 minutes. that's not our standard. we want to do better than that. we try to do better for that for police and driveway-type tows. the company -- the company, like i said, maintains a network of their own contractors who do this. they are definitely bringing more and more contractors on board as we come out of covid and there is more traffic in the city. so we do expect response time for tows to go down. i don't think 45 minutes, that's not our expectation how long it show take a tow truck. they have 10 trucks available. we're using them. we're doing driveway tow. all 11 districts, there have been thos

my hope is that the m.t.a. board -- as the m.t.a. board ramps up its oversight and involvement, i look forward to engaging with them in light of this hearing. i think they have an important role to play in terms of the future of muni, and i would urge m.t.a. board members to really challenge what i see as a perform of austerity planning when it comes to muni in the short-term that i think does a disserve to riders, workers, service providers. these aren't easy decisions to make, and i understand that, but i think we need to push harder for short-term restoration of lines and service, and i hope we'll be able to come together to do that. and finally, i want to recognize the importance of the federal government's emergency funding. we would not even be having these discussions had the federal government not stepped up in a very major way that gives us the cash that we need to take a more aggressive approach to service restoration. this has allowed countless transit agencies to restore service and restore all lines. it would allow san fr
