diane macedo from the fox business network. really 800 billion? >> that's right.t is a little complicated when you look at how it effects the state. they will be facing significantly higher medicaid costs regardless of where they expand or not. with all states expending medicaid no states expending medicaid no reforms at all found states will face 68 billion in additional medicaid even if they all leave their medicaid plans as is. expanding would cost them 8 billion more even without the expansion other provisions of the health reformula will reach medical enrollment. it seems like a pretty good deal for the states it is worth noting these costs aren't equally distributed. they have the smallest medicaid program and therefore has the biggest expansion while a handful of other states expand their eligibility before the affordable care act. they will be making money off the deal. that money has to come from somewhere and while medicaid expansion may not be a huge expense for the state the study shows on the federal level it will cost taxpayers $800 billion and that

diane macedo is at one of the targets walmart stores right here in new jersey, across the river. that is going on? >>guest: well, a day to the holiday shopping season here and still, no word from the nlrb on the legal at of the strikes planned against walmart for black friday. now, the retailer filed a complaint last week alleged that the united food and commercial union was using the wage protests as a pretense tale to try to organize walmart employees and it is beyond the deadline to hold a formalization vote. the nlrb said it is too complex an issue to issue a decision until after thanksgiving so legal or not the strikes will be allowed to continue until friday morning and added to that the workers group has filed their outbound complaint against walmart to the nlrb so black friday shoppers should expect more than just the usual chaos this friday. demonstrators say they expect 150 protests here at this walmart. >>eric: walmart claims the protests are illegal but the nlrb say they do not expect to issue a decision before tomorrow on thanksgiving, that doesn't leave a lot of tim

let's talk to diane macedo from the fox business network. we like to report. >>> challenger gray and christmas say they plan to layoff 47,720 people. in october that is up 41 percent from september. up 12 percent from a year ago. one of the major businesses getting hit is the auto industry with ford alone announcing 11,000 layoffs. those will largely effect workers in europe not here in the u.s. but john challenger the out placement firm ceo shows that indicate how vulnerable u.s. is to the situation in europe. the consumer products industry also announced 5,000 cuts and electronic companies came in shy of 4500 with both sectors siting a slow down in business and consumer spending. on the outside if you look at the year so far we are down more than 88,000 compared to how many total layoffs had been announced by this point last year. the challenger says the last three months of the year tend to see the heavier layoff activity. the third quarter earning season does not bowed well for the things to come. the big indicator like robert was talkin
