madd did have great ideas.line is that we lo looked at the early days they went with a gut feeling. in modern times in mid '80s and '90s, we went with research. what research, what sound research could we use in stopping drunk driving. those who made the choice to drink and drive on our roadways? we focused on the driver to solve our problem. what can we do to educate the public? it is about education and letting them know that we will not tolerate drunk driving in our country. >> your daughter, patty, was 10 years old when she was killed in a crash caused by a drunk driver in 1998. you appear in a documentary that i want to play a clip of if i can. >> when patty was born and as she grew, she looked so much like my husband, jim. i thought if anything ever happens to jim, i will always have patty. little did i know it would be the reverse. >> it is heartbreaking to see the picture of your beautiful daughter as i'm sure it is for you every day to know that she's gone. you talked about the importance of education.
