mai shoji joins us with the latest. >> traveling will be certainly hazardous if you're in these vints on the eastern coast of the united states. and traveling is the busiest time of the year. it's thanksgiving coming up soon on your thursday. as we speak, severe weather is slamming the deep south. we're talking about heavy rainfall and bursts of shower as well as thunderstorms. this system is going to become about 998, which means it's going to be a potent system traveling along the eastern coast. it will bring wet and windy conditions. it's not a slow-moving system, but the snow will be accumulating across the inland locations. that includes buffalo, where flood warnings are taking place. now, another round of heavy snowfall and much of new york state, d.c., boston, will likely see about 35 centimeters of snowfall. this is likely to be associated with strong gusts, too. low visibility certainly making for travel hazards. new york, for example, you're likely see the snow starting at 1:00 p.m. there's 100% chance of precipitation whether rain or sno. slick roads will be very dangerous

mai shoji is joining us with the weather. >> no matter the intensity, it's packing gusts of 96 kilometers per hour. it's now located west and will be passing over the islands today. burr the afternoon hours it's likely to become a strong -- severe i should say, severe tropical storm status and then become a low-pressure system by this evening. the gusts will be 126-mile-per-hour. and also the waves are still going to be very high. nine meters in the center of the system. and on the way out towards the izu islands, 4 to 5 meters. the pacific side will see three to four meters high waves. these areas you don't want to venture in water. it's also pushing with stationary boundaries. so we're likely to see the wet weather. and tomorrow a low pressure system will be bringing wet weather. it will be an off and off wet event across japan. torrents of rainfall already starting this year. the level of rainfall has exceeded the yearly average in and around myanmar. and on top of the rainfall that we have already seen in the low pressure system. 32 degrees is what we're looking at the forecast with a

mai shoji has more on that and more. >>> torrents of rainfall has resulted in a deluge of heavy rainfallhich has created severe flooding in northwestern italy. including where we have some images coming out from. days of heavy rainfall have left parts of northern italy under water this week leaving at least two people dead and many homes damaged. an elderly couple was swept away by a mudslide while traveling in their car during a deluge. flood waters forced people to wade through knee-deep waters. many residents and shop owners tried desperately to stop the water by using buckets to bail out what was entering their buildings. over 200 millimeters were reported in just eight hours in one location. emergency workers continued to be delayed in bringing in assistance due to many roads being washed out or even blocked. and unfortunately similar conditions will be prevailing due to the upper cold air and the surface temperature clashing making for heavy rainfall in similar locations and that will move into venice and rome. so much of the western coast of italy. and again, southeastern corner o

mai shoji joins us with more in world weather. >> many locations across the u.s.s covered with a cold wave. the recent cold surge has brought the temperatures down to about freezing or even below that. even across the four corners region. we have videos coming up to show you what people are dealing with as we speak. a potent cold surge drove its way south across the u.s. this week, bringing snowfall and dropping temperatures for more than half the country. the heaviest snowfall occurred in a michigan town where 108 centimeters fell this week. authorities say that four people were killed in minnesota due to slick roads. as one snowstorm moves east, another is working its way to the west. these images out of oregon shows the snow which is already covering trees and roadways. more snow will surely make for slick conditions. traveling will be very much disturbed. we're also talking about gusts reaching to about 65 kilometers per hour in and around colorado and another round of about 50 centimeters of snowfall moving in. to the pacific side, we're seeing winter precipi

let's get the latest of that and more from mai shoji. >> we reported that thousands of people have hadbe forced to evacuate across tuscany on wednesday. now the system has descended down towards the south and affecting rome as we speak. we have pictures to show you from there. it has happened in the capital of italy with torrential rain hitting the area. schools were closed and residents were urged to stay indoors. workers kept clearing manholes throughout the city for most of the day. near black skies covered tourist sites such as this coliseum as motorists tried to avoid waterlocked sections of major roads. unfortunately, more rain will be pounding similar locations. this is the system responsible for this torrential rainfall. buckets full of rainfall have been occurring since i recall from the beginning of this week. it's the same system. it's pulling a lot of that moisty air from the south. pulling a lot of that cold air from the north. clashing it here, making for nasty conditions. that's less likely to prevail. we have two waterspouts reported in italy on thursday and we might ev

for all the details of that and more here's mai shoji at the weather desk. >> residents of brisbane sawthe most intense storm systems. and people are cleaning up right now. take a look at a picture coming out from this area. the storm that hit brisbane on thursday is being called the strongest in a decade to slam australia's third largest city, golf ball size hail and winds up to 60 kilometers per hour reported at the storm's peak. 90,000 residents lost power. and one injury was reported due to falling tree. due to the high winds many residents may have thought they were in a cyclone instead of an intense super cell. a number of roads were blocked by falling trees leading to serious traffic disruptions. the army deployed 1 huf00 perso to the city to help clean up the damage. that's what's taking place. quite some hailstorm. while this is due to a cold front and the tail end of that hitting in and around brisbane. the low pressure system connected to that is actually down toward new zealand now, bringing some rainfall. not so intense, but it's going to be an ongoing event with some heavy
