they've been sending out glossy mailers like these ones to the city residents, running lots of tv ads against city council members, the ones that they, chevron, would like to see ousted. because california is one of those states where you have to say right on the ad who's funding it you can follow it, major funding by chevron. the candidate who chevron is supporting for mayor, he's had, so far, $1.3 million of chevron dollars, $1.3 million so far. his opponent, the guy that chevron wants to defeat? last count he had about $22,000 cash on hand. so $22,000 versus $1.3 million. for a small-town mayor's race. chevron has run up against a city and certain elected officials that it would very much like to get out of their way. and right now they are trying to remove those obstacles by backing a brinks truck up and opening the doors. after the citizens united decision cleared the way for unlimited spending and corporate campaigns, it didn't feel like it was an earthshaking national update. when they followed up with it's not just federal elections. corporations can spend unlimited money in l

carolina when nothing would be close maybe it wouldn't matter the koch brothers sent out hundreds of mailersople confusing, conflicting wrong information about how they should register to vote. ap later apologized for the multiple errors. but in georgia and in north carolina, and around the country, when this many races, this many top of the ticket races are this close, number one, you think that might get people interested in the elections this year, but whether or not that happens, this many races being this close makes it all the more tempting and possible for elections to be effectively stolen. by flat-out stopping people from voting or by bamboozling or confusing them to make them think they shouldn't even try to vote. turnout will be everything. so now is the part where we watch for the ways that people will try to stop voters from turning out or from having their votes counted by hook or by crook. whether or not you have been following the twists and turns of any individual race, right now, three weeks out, this is a tie game. close enough to be fascinating, but close enough to be sto

the difficulty is going to be, republicans are sending out these mailers and this misinformation to peoplelection day, saying that some of the laws have been overturned, that they're still in effect, so there's a lot of confusion out there. that's where the challenge is. we have to make sure that our supporters are aware of what is and what isn't happening. what they can and cannot do on election day. that's the real issue. >> and that's in a non-partisan way, jamal. that's why i talked about ground game, because if you're given misinformation, if you're cancelling early voting days, pushed back early voting by a week in ohio, if you don't have the information out there, door to door, you can find any surrogate you want. people don't know what to do. >> that's right. what we've seen on the ground in many elections, it gets more neff airious than that. republicans pass out flyers on election day, telling them the election moved to wednesday. don't worry about showing up on tuesday. so they do all sorts of things to get in the way. >> i'll be in orlando, florida tomorrow and out on the road
