typhoon talas is moving close to mainland japan. it has been bringing some widespread heavy rain as well as thunderstorms now. expected to turn stormy today. looks like it's going to be making land here during the overnight hours as a strong typhoon. before it continues to move in a northerly direction towards the sea of japan. it does remain a very large storm system, very strong system. so the results of course could be devastating. it has already been impacting much of fujioka. well over 300 millimeters in portions of the country. 420 in parts of nara as well. rainfall reaching its peak over the next 48 hours. to get a better idea, if we look at the next 24 hours. we're talking up to 200 millimeters in northern portions of the country. down farther we'll see more than that up to 700 millimeters occur in the next 24 hours. so flooding is going to be a big risk in many areas. coastal flooding as well to watch out for. and very stormy conditions. now let's head over to the americas. we could see a tropical storm form over the gulf o

this is tropical storm nor, which is traveling along the pacific ocean, parallel to mainland japan. as of now it's not affecting land. it's sandwiching the rem and in of talas. it will bring amle amounts of moisture and therefore rain to come in hokkaido. if we can take a look at this video coming out from shimizu, hokkaido. the remnants are bringing torrential rainfall already. jma held a press conference for residents in hokkaido to prepare the residents. the land is already saturated from previous flooding. they're all at very high risk. now in hokkaido as we pull back here, you will see that in the next 24 hours the rain band will be moving through in and around ha pore rah and into southwestern russia as well. we may see 400 millimeters in some area of hokkaido. we've had an accumulation of 200 millimeters in southwestern hokkaido so the land is very, very saturated. we're very, very worried and being cautious about these high risks of flooding and landslides and mud slides. chongqing still heating up sat 38. tomorrow we'll be looking at very hot temperatures there, too, but th
