eyewitness news reporter mallory hoff has been tweeting about the aftermath of this and joins us live from the scene. >> investigators telling us that it's still unclear how this fire started but that they do believe that it was suspicious. i want to give you an idea of what is going on here right now. you can see investigators gathered in the front area of this home. they say they believe this is where the fire started and this is part of what makes it suspicious. they say the fire very quickly grew and shot across to the home next door. one of these homes appears to be a total loss and the other home significantly damaged. >>> reporter: flames ripped through two homes in the flatbush section of brooklyn. two adults and three children were injured in the blaze. they are expected to be okay. now investigators are looking into the cause of the early morning fire. >> it's certainly suspicious. we do -- we have been told there was a similar fire in the neighborhood. >> reporter: newscopter 7 was above the fire as neighbors watched. >> i saw flames shooting out of the house over there. it
