eyewitness news reporter mallory hoff in the bronx with the latest. >> this is the area where this cab driver and his son share an apartment. his son shared with me earlier today his father is incredibly sorry and tonight for the first time we're getting a look at the moments before this accident. >> reporter: this surveillance video captures a woman as she steps off of the sidewalk in to a crosswalk. a cab then turns the corner before hitting her. khalil's 73-year-old father cab driver is charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian. investigators say he hit and killed 88-year-old louisa rosario early sunday morning. >> what has he said to you? >> he's truly sorry. i feel sorry for him. >> reporter: police say rosario 109th street in the marked crosswalk with a green signal when she was hit. candles burn near that area in remembrance. >> how many hours did you work that day? >> i don't know. >> reporter: according to the technology inside taxis, he logged in to his cab at 9:00 in the morning. he worked five hours until 2:00 p.m. when he took a break. he was back behind the wheel at 3

live in the east side, mallory hoff. channel 7 eyewitness news. >>> all right thank you very much mallory. 4:35. and this morning investigators are trying to determine exactly what sparked a gas explosion in new jersey. that left one person dead and several hurt and dozens of people out of a place to live. crews are digging through the wreckage of the duplex on magnolia avenue in elizabeth, new jersey. that blast seen on very seance video was caused by natural gas on the second floor just before 8:00 yesterday morning. one man got killed and two people including an 11-year-old girl were critically hurt. several other people were trapped under the debris. >> i got out and looking at the guy next door to the window. he yelling. come on, come on. he looking at the house and seeing how -- you seeing the second floor and the first floor. and -- [ inaudible ] >> now the red cross is working with dozens of people who were forced from their homes by that blast. officials say at least two homes have to be demolished. but all of th

eyewitness news reporter mallory hoff live now on the east side. good morning mallory. >> reporter: good morning. a veterans day celebration got out of hand very quickly. witnesses say a marine noticed a group of service members who were drinking at this bar while in uniform last night. take a look at this video from around 7:45. this is the turtle bay nyc bar. a group of soldiers in uniform were drinking inside -- uniform were drinking inside the bar. that's when witnesses say the 35-year-old marine who is not actively serving approached the group. the situation escalated and spilled onto the street rather quickly. the marine was then slashed in the shoulder. the soldiers ran away right after the fight. we spoke with a woman who was inside the bar when chaos erupted. >> i guess it happened so quickly and then you open up the windows you see the cops and the ambulance coming around and then taking the guy that got stabbed in the back. and that's it. >> reporter: and we're told the suspect was wearing army fatigues last night. police say no arrests h
