mallory hoff is live in copiage with the very latest on this story. mallory. >>reporter: ken, good morning. just in the last few minutes detectives here at the scene told me that the driver involved in this crash has been charged with dwi. that person is one of three people now in area hospitals suffering from non-life- threatening, but very serious injuries we're told. i do want you to take a look at the scene right now. you can see investigators here at the scene. that pickup truck remains where it came to a stop this morning right on top of a pole. take a a look at this video. this is how the scene looked following the crash just after 3:00 a.m. suffolk police got a call about a vehicle swerving and driving erratically. investigators arrived here on great neck road. that's where they found a pickup truck that had crashed into a pole. police say it appears the truck struck the center drive and then went across the eastbound lanes before crashing into the poles. the fire chief on scene says when crews arrived they found three people on the road. the chief say

eyewitness news reporter mallory hoff is live now in rosedale with more. mallory. >>reporter: lori, good morning. investigators are now searching for the driver of what they're saying is a dark colored dollar van. take a look behind me. this is the area where this hit and run took place this morning. police say the driver hit a 16- year-old girl in the crosswalk and then just kept on driving. take a look at this video of the scene. it happened just before 12:30 this morning. police say the teen was hit and killed. again, investigators now the teen was crossing sunrise highway at francis lewis boulevard in the crosswalk. the driver was traveling eastbound. this is near the rosedale train station. the teen was taken to jamaica hospital where she was pronounced dead. back out here live, you can see a few items scattered in the road where first responders attempted to help this teenager. the speed limit here is 40 miles per hour, and as you can tell this early morning, even in the dark, this is a generally well-lit area. this morning investigators are on the search for

"eyewitness news" reporter mallory hoff is live downtown. the new pictures of the east river streetcar. good morning, mallory. >> reporter: lori, good morning. we're standing in one of the most congested areas in brooklyn. the mayor says his goal is to ease up transportation. the projected costs to do that, $2.5 billion. i want you to take a look right now at these renderings. it shows where we are standing. this is what the proposed streetcar line would look like. because the project would operate on city streets, it's not expected to need state approval, meaning it would not require the blessing of and west and this would provide a north/south. this connector would run from sunset park to astoria, queens. it would run along the east river connecting the subways, ferries, bus routes and city bike stations. the three cars would travel 12 miles per hour, a trip between there and brooklyn would take 27 minutes. from what we understand, the project will wrap up in 2024. the mayor will make his pitch tonight. mallory hoff, channel 7 "eyewitness n

eyewitness news reporter mallory hoff is live with new video. good morning to you, mallory. >>reporter: ken, good morning. we're learning more information about that attack this morning. we're told that the victim in that case was stabbed on the subway, got out, then walked five blocks here and actually checked himself into the emergency room. take a look at the scene from earlier. this is around 11:15 tonight. investigators say the 33-year- old man got into a fight with another man while riding the subway. police say the dispute started over 50 cents. the victim was slashed on the neck and then got out at myrtle avenue. he is now being treated for that puncture wound. the slashing in east williamsburg was one of two slashings overnight. investigators say at 10:30 in east new york a man and woman approached an 18-year-old on the street. the teen was slashed on the face. we're told this was not a robbery, the motive, though, still unclear. and slashings we've learned are up just over 20%. take a listen to what mayor de >> what has really gripped new york is could it be random

after targeting two men and their fancy jewelry just days apart, "eyewitness news" reporter mallory hoff is live in midtown with the pictures police want you to see. mallory? >> reporter: good morning. one of the cases happened here in midtown manhattan. your time piece can be a sign of affluence or success but it can also make you a target. take a good look at these surveillance image. she is accused of snatching two offshore watches. together, they are worth over $100,000. on two different occasions, she's met men in the meat packing district and gone back to hotels with them. investigators say she steals their watches after they fall asleep. the victims in these cases are 28 and 35 years old. this happened back in august but investigators have now released the images as part of what they are calling an ongoing investigation. live in midtown manhattan, mallory hoff, channel 7 "eyewitness news." >>> a mother and child remain in critical condition this morning after police say a man stabbed then slashed four of his own family members in connecticut. police shot and killed the woman's hus

mallory hoff, abc news. >>> they pursued the suspect several blocks. shannon stone and news copter 7 lays out the chain of events. >> this story started shortly after 3:00 this morning at the intersection of malcolm x boulevard and quincy where police were responding to shots fired. they came across a vehicle that brandished a gun and fled the scene going the wrong way along quincy street and then coming bang down lexington avenue. you can see on the police tape here at the intersection of lexington avenue and malcolm x boulevard, that's where the suspect's vehicle collided head- on with a police cruiser. then shots were fired between both of the officers and the suspect. if you look closely, you can see bullet holes on the hood of side of the car up and down lexington avenue. there are markers that police are combing through to try to make heads or tails of this situation. reporting over bedford, shannon stone, channel 7, eyewitness news. >> now, the officers were part of an anticrime unit. ray kelly explained for us the difference between anticrime o
