this particular book is malvinas, bernard l venus was a german dutch anatomist.sts. these are copperplate engravings. they are not woodcut engravings. as you can see, they are very elaborate. there are 40, 40 large copper plates in this particular book. this is known as an e folio because it is so large. we do have quite a lot of you folios in the collection. this would be one of our anatomy collection books. this is a book by famous physician or surgeon, medical surgeon. was famous about on processes that he did away with the practice of pouring boiling oil on wounds. they ran out of boiling oil at one point and so he decided to use a different concoction which included eggs and i believe rosewater. he realized that the wounds healed a lot better using that concoction rather than the boiling oil. so, he was famous for that and i'm sure that a lot of the people that were injured have these awful injuries were very grateful for that, too. this is the first edition. this is 1859 and as a first edition it is a very valuable part of our collection. on this side of th
