george zimmerman in fact did grow up in this area, in the manassas area. as far as freedom plaza, we are here live this morning because we want to let folks know about a rally that will be held here saturday at 2:00 p.m. it is just the latest in a series of movements across the country supporting this family of course. the rallies were held in new york and miami recently and support of trayvon sup martin's family -- trayvon martin's family. the teenager was shot and killed by george zimmerman who claims he acted in self- defense. the teenager was returning from the store, had a haddie on and -- hoody on and was only carrying a bag of skittls and ice tea. zimmerman was told by police not to follow the boy but eventually shot him fatally. the teen can be heard over a 911 call screaming for help before the final gunshot. police did not arrest zimmerman because of a florida stand your ground law that allows a lawful gun owner to shoot and kill if he feels threatened. >> the death of trayvon is terrible. i heard today the commission taking the vote of no confid

in manassas -- rest. in manassas, two lanes are closed. >> the other big story this morning. massacre charges against a u.s. soldier accused of gunning down more than a dozen afghan civilians. today prosecutors will reportedly filed 17 counts of murder. >> and the father of two also faces numerous other counts of assault and dereliction of duty. brianne carter is live in a newsroom with the story. in army staff sergeant robert bales is reportedly facing several charges related to the shootings and afghanistan. according to a report, later today he will be charged with 17 counts of murder, six counts of assault, and six counts of attempted murder. and he is accused of leaving the base and going on a shooting rampage in afghan villages, killing 17, including nine children and eight adults. thursday officials changed the number of those dead from 16 to 17 adding 1 more adults. word of these charges come at the same time we are learning new details about the soldier who was on his fourth tour of duty overseas at the time of the alleged incident. according to the associated press,
