we hear from senator joe manchin this morning.80% close to getting a deal done. do you think that's true? and if not, are the holdups? >> it seems very optimistic. there's time left. three days in washington is a lifetime when it comes to dealing with these sorts of physical crisis seize. you mentioned joe manchin, he and susan collins, republican senator from maine, they have a bipartisan deal that is supported by a number of senators that would basically satisfied a lot of the problems here in washington. it would raise the debt ceiling. there are a couple of sticking points in that agreement that don't really go over that well with the white house. i have just spoken with a republican source that is close to the negotiations up on capitol hill. and what i'm hearing at this point as to where this maybe headed is that there seems to be a tug of war going on between senate majority leader harry reid and senate majority leader mitch mcconnell over the debt ceiling. the democrats want a shorter continuing resolution because they wan

you heard senator manchin.hey going to go after budget reform, entitlement reform, tax reform, or, in your opinion, should they stay on much more the obama care reform or repeal? in other words, how will you advise the politicians that you talked to? >> look, our country is facing a lot of problems. i don't think anybody disagrees with that so we need to continue to litigate the case against obama care to the extent there are opportunities where we can relieve some of the pain the american people are feeling. we need to seize those. we also have a huge debt problem. and to the extent that congress actually wants to come together and do something about that, and the president will actually engage in good faith negotiations without a timeline there, i'm dubious of that. but if he wants to, that can be productive. i don't know how this all plays out, but the last thing i think anybody should expect that folks will be too easy swayed from litigating obama care. that's still going to be the major thing we're looking

senator joe manchin was the first person on the democratic side to call and say, "count me in. i want to work on this as well." senator pryor and senator king also very early on and senator mccain endorsed the proposal of our working together and the outlines of this plan. senator johanns was such a thoughtful addition to our gro group. amy klobuchar was there for every meeting. senator kirk, senator heidi heitkamp, senator jeff flake, senator joe donnelly, senator jeanne shaheen. it was a wonderful group of people united by our determination to demonstrate that we could compromise, we could govern, we could bring an end to this impasse and do it in a way that was worthy of this great country and our constituents. we worked together over and over. there were a lot of tough decisions to be made, a lot of lengthy negotiations, and we came up with a plan which we presented to our two leaders, senator reid and senator mcconnell. not all elements of our plan were incorporated by the leaders but i think that they would say that they built on our work and did, indeed, take some of our
