i'm reminded of a few years ago barbara mann detrimental a country western singer reported a song i was country before country was cool. i mention that because from 2005 to 2009 i was the captain in charge of sf pd traffic company and each the 5 years sfpd traffic company received awards from the international ward and from the california highway patrol for the best safety efforts in the nation and best overall traffic safety in the nation. i mention that for two reasons one to brag and (laughter) but more importantly to mention that we've been able to deploy many of the tactics to the station. most important, however, is the fact that the officers at park stationary bracing the concept that traffic enforcement saves lives. it's one of the rare things that one can do in the police department that's guaranteed to save lives. by embracing that concept they're really on board with chief surs mandate that we do something about making the streets safe. in 2013 in the park police district we had one traffic fatality and that was a motorcyclist late at night >> (speaking foreign language.) >>
