manny is here to talk more with us about this. you know, what is upsetting and confusing is the conflicting reports. >> well, look, this is a very important report. 100,000 patients over 20 years following. one thing, even the critics agree, we're overtreating a lot of carcinoma in situ. this is stage 0. if you look at the data, they've said women that lumpectomy, mastectomies, double mastectomies, it didn't matter. they had the same outcome as women that did not have breast cancer. so you did not reduce the mortality in the women. many of them were overtreated and i think a lot of oncologists would agree. i don't think any oncologist is going to change their modality of treatment based on the study. what needs to happen is you need to randomize the groups. if you have carcinoma in situ, what you'll see new research happening so you get put in different categories. some people will be observed. some people will have lumpectomies or mastectomies and let's see the outcomes. 100,000 women, 20 years experience, it seems we're over tre

manny alvarez. another wrinkle. seems like we keep learning new things that can impact whether or not you can get pregnant. a lot of challenges out there. >> this is nothing new. this is an observational study. it goes with other studies dealing with long work hours for women. when you look at greater than 40 hour weeks, evening shifts, jobs that require a lot of strenuous activity, even though it was an observational study and they had issues like obesity and smoking, because of the style of work, there was a high statistical reduction in fertility, 20, 30, 40 percent. one of the primary culprits in the negative stress, being so tired that your cortisol levels, one of the hormones we make when we have the negative stress, that impedes ovulation effectively. that's why you have this issue of women. this is something to consider, which if you think about it, a lot of employers, it will cost you more if you kind of regulate, especially if a lady is trying to get pregnant and you keep her in a shift for more than 40 ho
