house fire in the south bay this morning. we brought you live, breaking coverage of the story all morning long on "today in the bay." the fire broke out at driftwood manor. this is around 4:00 this morning on blossom hill road near the expressway. when firefighters arrived, the apartment was already engulfed in flames, and the victim was inside. crews tried cpr on him for 20 minutes before declaring him dead. we spoke with a couple of people who live there, and they said that he was quiet, kept to himself. here's a woman who lives next door to his unit. >> they came in, took down the door, and flames were coming out. it was really bad. a lot of smoke. >> reporter: next door to your apartment? >> yes. >> reporter: what were you doing? >> sleeping. >> reporter: yeah. >> got up really quick and they told us -- they knocked on our door and told us to leave, we had to get out. >> reporter: was there a smoke alarm or anything going off? >> yeah, there was a smoke alarm. that's why we were bothered a little bit and so when my husband got up to go to work, he checked. >> reporter: all right. your family is safe? >> yes. >> that fire was contained to just one un
