. >> reporter: water was more than a foot deeper in the manzanita "park & ride" and caltrans was rerouting drivers along the flooded roads and assisting drivers to chose to brave the water and regretted it. >> when it rains here it floods so you get a lot of cars going through mud like this and through water like this and if you are too low, you're not going to make it. >> reporter: up in sonoma county, more than a dozen roads were closed for flooding or trees down including this one in windsor. a flash flood warning in sonoma county was in effect until 5 p.m. urging thousands of people to stay off the roads. >> probably one of the creeks is backing up going into the russian river, the russian river being high right now. so when the river gets high, the creek backs up and floods the roads. >> reporter: i talked to officials here in sonoma county and they do not expect the russian river to get above flood levels. so that's good news for folks up here but it's still raining so they are expecting some water levels to continue to rise. so they are urging people to stay home. live in sonoma cou

one area expected to be a problem is the area around the manzanita parking mine in mill valley just up the road from us. that lot is always prone to flooding. were won by there this morning and the warning signs are up already letting people know not to park there today. as the rain begins to pick up throughout the morning chp is actually going to be shutting down that area, strutting down this beach area from highway 101 to highway 1 to keep cars from getting stuck in all of that didn't water that will no doubt be building up there. >> also, the wind . it will be a major factor with -- with the storm system. we could see downed trees, down the power poles and of course that will mean power outages as well. as we bring you back out here, the high winds will make for dangerous driving conditions as you head out the door. you have the slick roads, high winds and potential for roadway flooding. take it easy out there this morning. that is your best advice. the rain is beginning to pick up and we will be here throughout the morning. >> thank you alex. let us know. it is supposed to get wor
