maria: yeah.ritory but what is the catalyst to change things? because right now you're looking at a very strong backdrop in the economy. you're looking at record low interest rates, meaning there aren't a lot of alternatives other than stocks to get any kind of returns. so you may be saying things are over-valued. they can stay over-valued for a long time. >> amen, no doubt about it. we've seen that happen twice already, tech stocks and real estate. noticing that it's irrational exuberance, that went on for several years. what changes is when market position is full-up. that's not what i've seen yet. that's why i'm still bull. maria: jay powell insisting that borrowing rates will stay put through 2023 ahead of a federal reserve meeting next week. what are your expectations for that fed meeting next week? when would you expect the fed's language to start changing in terms of inflationary pressures, in terms of taking their foot off the gas, post covid economy? >> well, the fed is an enigma at this

maria: yeah.t's a great point. in terms of growth, broader economy growth, mark, and the backdrop for investing right now, do you think we are going to see growth in gdp for 2021? >> i certainly think we'll see growth. but there's a little bit of downside math is really hard here. people are excited about the rebound in gdp, but they're not really paying attention to how much destruction there was because of the lockdowns. so we're going to bounce back, probably 5, 6%. that will sound good on the headline. when you think about a decline of 4%, look, we had the first global contraction of gdp in history. we've never had a full global contraction before. so i think there is going to be growth and there's going to be some positive earnings and some companies are going to do well but i think broadly the market get got ahead of itself, expectations are just too high and we're set up for kind of a disappointment coming into the summer and fall. maria: yeah. especially when you pile on there we've got ma

maria: yeah.y the way, in that shot i think it's really interesting to point out that president biden is the only leader without a flag behind him. everybody has their flag. we don't have the american flag behind joe biden. interestingly. real quick before you go, josh hawley and mike braun introducing a bill that would force the administration to declassify the intelligence related to the origin of covid. i mean, covid-19 has killed millions across the world, more than half a million here in the united states. and every opportunity that president biden has had in terms of speaking with xi jinping the subject never comes up. can you explain this, why he has a private phone call with xi jinping and he never asks him why the chinese communist party hid this to the world, cornered us in terms of the ppe and allowed the virus to escape its borders. not a word from anybody on the origins of covid. i thought this was the priority. >> there's a huge ethical question about the origins of the virus. the et

maria: exactly.hat will include much higher taxes, not just on the corporate sector but individuals. i want to switch gears, ask about what you're seeing in your polling, mark, about how americans feel about the crisis at the border. your results show 79% of voters say that the crisis needs to be addressed immediately. tell us what you have found in speaking with people about the border part of this radical agenda. >> well, i think that the administration can't deny that there's a crisis there. there's no he question that 79% as you said think there's a crisis that needs immediate attention. i'm surprised either the president or the vice president went down to the border which is a typical response when something's a crisis and then say how are you going to fix it. i think most people are looking at this and they're saying, well, if there was a wall built it should stay there, things should be patched, catch and release doesn't make sense, that returning people to their country to he prevent this kin

maria: yeah.nd then you look across the country, dagen, you see the violence breaking out even worse than before because of policy. bob nardelli, that was all preventible. this is all policy. that's why you've got shootings up in the double digits, crime up in the double digits in our big cities, look at new york, look at chicago. that's because of the movement to defund the police, wide open borders and no cash bail, specific policies that were changed that caused this spike in violence, people are not talking about it but it's affecting all families. >> yeah, maria, it's -- it's frightening, i think, to a number of us out here that either see these events taking place, read about them as dagen mentioned. in this situation we all agree that a proper investigation and revealing of the facts as dagen said is good, is good to have accountability on the past. unfortunately he is such a figure, you know, with the number of followers, you don't know why you would want to fuel the situations that you're

maria: yeah.t week that the u.s. navy is worried that china will soon invade taiwan. the question becomes will the u.s. support and protect taiwan in that instance if we were to see china invade? what do you think? >> if we did not support taiwan, the only democracy, chinese democracy in the area, a country that we have been providing military assistance to, a country that we have worked with our allies to shore up, the chinese would have one of the number one high tech platforms in the world in taiwan. they would use it as a military base to encroach on our allies in the region and the united states would have lost its regional influence as a result of it. it would be an absolute disaster. what the united states has to do is create a deer tear republicans now so -- deterrance now. maria: this is a monumental question, monumental unknown. what happens if china invades taiwan? what does the united states do? should that occur. massive disruption. general, we'll keep watching this, of course, this i
