maria: welcome back.futures this morning, markets are awaiting a flood of new debt issuance following washington's new debt deal, the dow industrials down 46, nasdaq down 20, s&p lower by 3. the wall street journal is reporting $1 trillion in new treasury debt is set to hit the market. the government could face borrowing at rates near 6%. we're going to get into this coming up. join ming is tjm institutional services director, james yurio. great to see you. what is your reaction to all of this debt coming and what kind of impact would you expect? >> what dawned on me, they have to borrow more to pay interest on the debt between the issue right now. is it a big deal? i don't think it's an enormous deal. i think the federal reserve knows this could zap 1 trillion extra liquidity out of the system by the end of the year. my fundamental case has been by my calculations an excess 3 d$3 trillion sloshing around in the system. is it a big deal? it's mildly a big deal. they just issued $50 billion of very short e

maria: yeah. thanks, maria. good morning. mark, very good to talk to you. i wondered on the fed in particular whether you were surprised by chairman powell's statement that the -- the fed's statement that while they're pausing rates after a long series of rate hikes, they seem to be strongly indicating they're going to go for another rate hike again next month. i'm wondering what's the point. if you need to get to a top rate torques a peak rate of -- to a peak rate of interest rates, why not get inflation down and cut rates later, why do you think the pause and then the expectation of another hike? >> well, i do think that stress in the banking system in march and some of the fallout there is part of the reason why the fed haspaused. they've been conveying that 5% was going to be their landing spot for fed funds eventually so i think getting to that, mark, as well, was one reason why they decided to take a pause now. i think the inflation data, the employment data would all indicate there is more

maria: wow. white house is responding to this and the white house claims that the trump justice department already investigated and dismissed these allegations. which is not true. however, sources tell fox news that former attorney general bill barr did not terminate the investigation but instead sent it to the delaware u.s. attorney investigating hunter biden. joining me is former georgia congressman and ranking member of the house judiciary committee, doug collins. it's great to see you this morning. wow, what incredible explosive allegations. you just heard james comer use the words money laundering. what do you think is going on here? >> well, maria, it's good to see you this morning and how many times have we been coming on mornings and talking about this. the department of justice makes a pretzel look like a straight line. i mean, it's just, when you look at this, the convoluted arguments that you heard, the white house saying this was put away a long time ago now you have the fbi saying it

maria: wow.att taibbi visit because he was testifying about government abuse and he had all of the facts from the twitter files that showed that you had 1,000 people throughout different agencies in government working with twitter to amplify lies and suppress truth. this intimidation is for what? >> they did everything other than leave a horse's head in the guy's bed. maria: wow. >> when they went out. he's testifying. as he's testifying, they do this. the irs in order to cover for fbi misdeeds, the fbi censoring twitter and so on, they went out and started an investigation against taibbi on christmas eve. maria: right. >> a saturday at the irs. who is at the irs on a saturday night unless you're trying to do something you don't want anyone else to see, they just -- that a was by the way the day that one of his reports came out, exposing fbi abuses. maria: unbelievable. >> the irs jumps in and says we'll handle this. these are -- the treasury -- yeah -- maria: the bulk of the money that joe biden

maria: okay. we are all looking for growth in an environment where the macro story is supposed to be slowing down and is slowing down but, mark, interesting comment yesterday from the chairman of the fed. u.s. powell says u.s. commercial lending remains under pressure but he sees no broad threats in the financial system. mark: what? maria: we thought about this, expecting threats from the commercial system. mark: 100%. i don't know what he's looking at. maria: maybe it's transitory. mark: same guy who said inflation was transitory. maria, we talked about two key data points, $1.4 trillion of commercial real estate loans coming due this year and next year that will have to be financed at lower appraisals which is a loan devalue problem for underwriters and might not be able to approve the loan at higher interest rates and that's going to be a problem. beyond this year and next year there's more come and due. it's certainly an issue. beyond that, commercial real estate loan delinquency spiked by 20%

maria: yeah. well, look, one phase that keeps getting stronger is the phase of buying big tech, ken. i mean, look at the tech sector this morning, adobe is up on better than expected earnings. microsoft hitting an all time high seeing its first record close since november 2021, stock up 45% year-to-date adding $773 billion in market value. amazing move on microsoft. big tech driving the nasdaq all week and certainly all year. look at that move, nasdaq's up 31% year-to-date, intel is set to receive almost $11 billion in subsidies from germany for a chip manufacturing plant. interesting to see so many big tech names also try to come up with plan b, away from china, investing in america, investing in india around chips. what are your thoughts on big tech, do you want to buy these stocks here. >> since the beginning of the year i've been talking about microsoft. it's been our favorite. because all the verticals, they make sense. they have gaming, they have cloud, windows and now they have a.i. and the
