>> reporter: good morning, mara. well, yesterday was a not so great day for oscar pistorius in court. today doesn't seem to be going well for him either. yesterday, the prosecution claimed that it was a premeditated murder. and the magistrate at this point is going along with this claim. now, today on the stand, they've had the lead investigator giving evidence, saying why he agrees with the prosecution that this is in fact a premeditated crime. they're really focusing on how the shots were fired through the bathroom door. striking reeva steenkamp and killing her. and this is essential, really, to their claim that it was premeditated. that he walked with a purpose to fire the bullets through the door killing miss steenkamp. also, in addition to all of this, they as decided they want to add additional charges. those of unlicensed firearm ammunition found in the home. so this is not striking up so great. they are taking a break, however, because his lawyers want to show a plan of the house so they can argue how it was

i'm mara schiavocampo. former olympian oscar pistorius back in court this morning and there are new details emerging on the murder case against him. the track star arrived just hours ago for a bail hearing in the south african capital. prosecutors say pistorius fired four shots at girlfriend reeva steenkamp during her bath door last week, the 29-year-old model was hit three times and the bathroom door later broken open. pistorius was arrested thursday and charged with premeditated murder. a sentence capable of carrying a life sentence. defense lawyers say the killing was nut murder. >>> meanwhile, funeral service being held in port elizabeth. it capped six days of dramatic fall from grace for the man known as south africa golden boy. today, major sponsors like oakley and nike are cutting ties with pistorius say they go will no longer use him in future ads. >>> turning now to gas prices. and the surprising pace which they've been climbing. regular gas has gone up for the last 32 days, 43 cents in a month. nb

>> reporter: good morning, mara. we should learn later today, probably around 7:00 or 7:30 eastern, if oscar pistorius, the world famous double amputee sprinter the world knows as blade runner, will be freed on bail or not. now, not getting bail would clearly be an enormous blow to pistorius. he and his coach want to get back on the track and train and prepare properly for his trial. but also because the momentum has just seemed to be shifting so much in pistorius' favor of late. especially after yesterday's bombshell when we learned the lead investigator, the guy laying out the case against pistorius, is himself facing seven charges of attempted murder on another case. just an extraordinary twist. but the defense had already picked apart this investigator's case, forcing him to back down on many points. he even had to admit that pistorius' story is plausible that he shot and killed his girlfriend by mistake thinking her to be an intruder. now, the prosecution has wrapped up their position already this morning, that
