. >> marc martinez joins us live with how it went down and what we know about the victim. >> reporter: the shooting took place around 1:00 in oklahoma city. let's show you where the airport is. it is not a large airport. there is only 8,000 flights a day compared to 120,000 out of sky harbor airport so that gives you perspective on this. again, it was around 1:00 in the happened at the southwest terminal in a parking garage closing the airplane for hours while authorities search for the shooter. one man was killed and he has been identified as 51-year-old michael winchester a southwest employee. he is the father of kansas city chiefs nfl player. there are no signs of who the shooter might be and all of the travelers need to avoid the airport. police believe the shooting was an isolated incident but the motivation is not clear. it is unclear if winchester knew the suspect. southwest is trying to accommodate passengers who are affected by the cancellation of flights today. >>> six teenagers hurt in a stabbing at a utah high school. one of the teens in custody for carrying out the attack

marc martinez is here to explain how this works. marc? >> well, you guys, high-speed pursuits are one of the most dangerous situations that police officers find themselves in with roughly 40% of them ending in a crash. a valley man came up with that idea that may help drastically reduce the n deaths due to high-speed chases. it's called the grappler, and he shows us how it works. high-speed pursuits, they are dangerous, they are unpredictable, and in some cases, like this chase in the west valley in september, stopping them can be deadly. >> the options right now are getting in front of a suspect vehicle to deploy tire spike or using the pit maneuver or some process to stop a vehicle, and the officer many times is pinned against the suspect vehicle. >> reporter: that's what prompted peoria resident leonard stock to come up with a solution. his invention works by lowering a heavy-duty nylon net in front of a police vehicle by touching a button, wrapping around the rear axle. within a few seconds, the chase comes to controlled stop without

marc martinez joins us live with the latest. >> reporter: maricopa county, which owns chase field, has been at odds with the diamondbacks over who is responsible for renovating that stadium. the county was hoping to bring this a third-party investor to buy chase for about $60 million and then help pay for the improvements, but those hopes are back to square one. >> this is always an inherent risk, to step out and try to do something great for the community. >> reporter: how quickly things change, just a few months ago county supervisors were optimistic about a potential sale of chase field to private investors in order to renovate the 18-year-old ballpark, but now those investors are backing out of the deal and pointing the blame directly at the diamondbacks. in county board of supervisors, they called the team's $117 million estimate greatly exaggerated, and they say on numerous occasions the diamondbacks refused to meet with them. the team responded late tonight saying they are offended at the notion that they are being uncooperative in the process and that the group wasn't being for

marc martinez joins details on this. information at first, was so off but we find out this was a car and a knife. >> reporter: we're learning more information tonight. ohio state police say the attacker purposely drove the car that john was talking about over the curb into a group of pedestrians, a group of students standing outside and got out of the carry an started slashing people with a butcher knife. the ohio state university is a sprawling campus. the attack happened right there we are told it is the material science, and engineering building. the university sent out a series of tweets saying there was an active shooter on campus and students should run, hide, or fight. a shelter in place warning had be lifted and the scene was secure. it does not appear that a suspect used a gun. he used those people. the suspect began to strike people with the car. there is no indication that the suspect shot anyone. nine people were taken to the hospital, eight of them is in stable condition, one is critical. >> you never think
