now you have marco rubio. how did this announcement compare? >> you know it was very different in a lot of ways. but i think primarily because marco rubio is so relying on and building on what you just talked about, his personal history, the fact that he comes from cuban exiles. the fact that he chose this building behind me, the freedom tower because it was kind of the ellis island for cubans coming to this country and coming here to miami. but also look in the room for all of these announcements you have their core supporters. you the enthusiasm. but rubio is different because he is known as an orator. he is known to give big speeches like the american dream. he has given this version of the speech many times before just not in the context of please make me president. one thing i will say at the beginning in the room maybe it came across this way on television he actually looked a little nervous, erin. he was a little bit unsure of himself. then he got his groove no question about it. and he became kind of that rise up speaker that we've seen

i would imagine marco rubio would say no to that. to be a little careful about making this purely about a generational shift, purely being the youngest guy in the field but i think in that analysis wolf he is okay with potentially alienating a few older voters if it means he can build a groundswell in the rest of the republican party. >> but i don't -- there is no evidence that younger voters would not vote for somebody who's older. i mean if that person's ideas appeal to them. one thing you have to consider with hillary clinton is that she's a woman. and there are lots of younger voters who are attracted to the gender issue and think okay it's time for a woman so i don't care how old she is. she's the most famous woman in the world, one might argue, and i care about her ideas, so who cares about her age. >> as you know the republicans have gone after barack obama, the president of the united states saying when he took office he was a freshman senator. he really didn't have a whole lot of experience. listen to rubio on this point. >>

how does he distinguish himself, marco rubio?ink if you look at the polling marco rubio is in single digits so he's not in the top tier. but i think he's kind of everybody's second choice. there is nothing hugely objectionable about him. people who say that they favor jeb bush might also consider marco rubio and it goes down the line with others including rand paul. so i think he sees himself as a bridge between those who -- the establishment republicans and the tea party republicans he was elected as a tea party republican just five years ago. >> yeah. and go ahead. >> he -- also his compelling biography will propel him into the race. he's not like barack obama, but the closest to it on the republican side. he has a biography that fits the time of this electorate to some degree. i think the national polls don't mean a ton for him right now. people still don't know him. once they get to know him, you're right, there's not a lot objectionable about him. can he raise the money and compete with the florida giant jeb bush. >> what is
